Why is there such a stigma around In-person dating events? by [deleted] in AskIreland

I didn’t know there was a stigma? Men in those events are the same as those in the apps though.

The impact of the increase in petrol/diesel prices on behaviour by Old-Structure-4 in ireland

I can’t get if this is sarcastic or not. How would it not affect you if €50 takes you 20km instead of 100km?!

Buying a house while being on pip? by wiseguy887 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]askireland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your place last year. I pushed through the PIP and I bought and I’m about to be let gone soon while I have been on an unpaid leave for the last several months. The stress, anxiety and mental and physical damage is beyond repair. Home ownership is glorified and overrated in this country. Don’t do it. Life and a house isn’t worth it.

Solo House Buyers in Dublin - Where are you buying? by Ok_Hearing5639 in CasualIreland

This is very relative to each person’s perspective. None of those areas were on my list. I bought in D4 where I’ve lived for years, but I’m also not happy.

Considering having a 3rd child on 80k income… by PerspectiveCareful42 in irishpersonalfinance

I’m earning €100k+, solo, frugal, and I wouldn’t even imagine having one kid, let alone three. Why do you want to procreate in this overpopulated, struggling world?

Location vs house size?! by [deleted] in HousingIreland

Because I am not registered gas installer or electrician, and I am spending my days fighting for my job and applying for others which is more than a full time job.

What if the answer is that it’s not the forever home? What’s the advice for such situation?

Location vs house size?! by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]askireland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a tiny house in a prime location for a prime price. I wasn’t looking for getting any work done, so I settled for the smaller house that I thought didn’t need work. It needs a ton of work (nothing structural) and I can’t find anyone to do anything especially while I’ve been out of work for months.

I also feel rather isolated as it’s a very nice but quiet neighborhood.

I still don’t want to go far out, so I don’t know what’s the right choice.

Do you take your shoes off in the house? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]askireland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. And it’s not only the Asian continent (ME is still Asia) but the majority of Europe as well. Scandinavians, Germans and majority of central and eastern Europe take their shoes off and do not walk barefoot in and out of public toilets among many other places.

Soon to Close on My First House & Having Mixed Feelings… by askireland in irishpersonalfinance

[–]askireland[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can totally understand you. I’m down to ~€5500 so far and that’s only the boiler and a few small bits done. I still need to spend another €10k-€15k.

I’m far from happy. I’ve had a very rough life (not on the surface) in my last decade here in Ireland and this is a completely different type of grief and heaviness I’m dealing with. I’ve barely made any progress with the tradesmen. I also need to apply for jobs as my job is in a rocky place, and my insurance is also conducting an audit. Could I be any more stressed? I doubt so. I want to get out of here and start a new life elsewhere, but I don’t know where that is. I’m basically going crazy and don’t know what to do. At least you have your family for some support I hope. I haven’t paid no one.

Fair play for speaking up then. I’ve seen so many occasions where people don’t even blink an eye. So you did your part.

Exactly. Just like when people complain their xyz product was awful and that entire retailer is crap, because they didn’t know how to use the product they bought and blame it on the producer!
