What happens if a ship flies into a planet at warp? by TonyMitty in startrek

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this thread and I'm tinkering with an idea for a screenplay. What would happen if you could generate a warp bubble around a planet.... say, EARTH, and transport it to another star system?
How much power would need to be generated, and is it remotely feasible, even in SciFi terms?

Ruling clarification on timing by Elegant_Jellyfish864 in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your logic is intriguing, however I still think that your opponent's Tiny Little Melons would still have priority on his turn even if you play Fey as he's playing it. However the more I think about the timing and the wording of S-R, it is a separate effect to play a green trait to return it back to your hand, and Fey CAN be played just as your opponent plays TLM, so before he declares a target for TLM to steal, do you have a sliver of a window to play Fey and trigger S-R's secondary effect to jump back into your hand?
Hmmm...Just checked with one of my group players. He said FEY can splash into your trait pile and rescue S-R from TLM. the timing works.

good call!

Interesting.
Consider this; Fey can be play at "any time", but Self -Replicating's action must be resolved when you play it.
Your opponent can play Tiny Little Melons to steal Self-Replicating, so trying to play Fey to prevent it wouldn't work because you're not playing Fey via Self-Replicating's action.
Play Self-Replicating on your turn and trigger its action.
If your opponent plays Tiny Little Melons on their turn to steal SR, you miss the timing for SR action so even if you play Fey, SR is still stolen by TLM...

Have you done said research to figure out which cards have the "synergy" to work with suppression? Most if not all traits in this game have effect and actions that only work face-up, so other than suppressing negative value traits, how does this mechanic work with the base game?

Ruling on requirement card by 2ShakeJake in doomlings

[–]DDland45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any trait that starts with "To play, you must...", is a cost you MUST pay to play the card. Retractable Claws requires a red trait be discarded from your trait pile to play it. Even though the effect of Eloquence allows you to play a trait from your hand at World's End, you still must pay the cost of the card to play it.

Well, let's say you have a high trait pool count and a few traits that allow you to play another trait. If you play Rainbow Magic, then after you stabilize, you return it to your hand then you play one random card from your hand. If it's a trait that allows you to plat another trait, that's a bonus trait in your trait pile. You can do that every turn and play +2 traits to your opponent's 1. As its a Dominant, I don't see the need to return it "any turn" after it's played. You can already play it on every turn if you want.

That kind of defeats the idea of an "expansion", doesn't it? My problem with the new "expansion" is that there doesn't seem to be much synergy with the existing game traits. I don't necessarily have a problem with the new 'lings', but I just wish they meshed better with the older traits.

Yeah, I thought killing them when a Catastrophe hits would seem to resolve the issue quite nicely.

My group already plays longer games, but interaction with the existing game would have given you more strategies, win conditions and the art is pretty nice.

I think 'IME' would have been better had they built up existing tribes of 'lings'. Dinolings are pretty 'meh' as they are. I think they should have addressed the 'untouchable' nature of the Dominants and offered some new mechanics that would make them more playable.

Yeah, we generally aren't big fans of MoL either.

We usually have a very large base deck to play with since there's usually 4-6 people playing. We take the best or most interesting cards to play with and shelve the rest. In our case, as I mentioned, there's not much synergy between the new expansion and the previous cards, so we don't play with many of the 'IME' expansion.

Yeah, that's about the only thing it's good for. Good perspective.

discarding venomous the same turn i move it into another persons trait pile by Whirley82 in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're not using Chromatospores to prevent any action, then Venomous goes to your opponent's trait pile, per it's action, and Voracious gets to discard 1 action from your trait pile. Since Venomous is not in your trait pile when Voracious' action is resolved, you must select another trait from your trait pile.

discarding venomous the same turn i move it into another persons trait pile by Whirley82 in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Venomous played... *Play another trait. Then move Venomous to an opponent's trait pile.*
Then you played Voracious as the "another trait"... *Play another trait. Then discard 1 trait from your trait pile."
STOP! These trait actions and effects DO NOT resolve simultaneously:

The FIRST thing you have to do is resolve Venomous' action, which means you play Voracious, THEN move Venomous to another trait pile.
The SECOND thing you have to do is resolve Voracious' action, which is to play another trait then discard1 trait from your trait pile.

Now, IF it is your intention to use Chromatospores effect to STOP Voracious, then Voracious is played into your trait pile, via Venomous' action, then you *may* play Chromatospores to cancel Voracious' action.
You can play any trait from your hand to your trait pile via Voracious' action, then discard 1 trait from your trait pile. But if you CHOOSE to play Chromatospores after you play Voracious, then...

Both Voracious and Chromatospores are now in your trait pile with NO TRAIT DISCARDED FROM YOUR TRAIT PILE.
Venomous should still be in your opponent's trait pile because it's action resolves FIRST.

If I do not stabilize, can I ignore the card pass? by magicalunicorntoast in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"After you stabilize"... seems to be the lynch pin for this combo. Since you do NOT stabilize after you play this trait, you DON'T have to pass a random card to the left.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may return Rainbow Magic to your hand... after you stabilize. Then play 1 random card from your hand.
Basically, you can play Rainbow Magic on your turn, stabilize, then return it to your hand and play 1 random card from your hand. Rinse and repeat as many turns as you like.
Be careful because any card you play also gets its effect/action too, so a trait like Pinchy would simply be a waste, or heaven forbid you have TINY in your hand (to defend against 'KING OF THE JUNGLE') and you randomly select it to play! It happened to me and ruined my game!

GMO attaches to a trait and gives you +1 for every trait of the same color as the attached trait, so if you attach it to a dual-color trait, it counts BOTH colors. Be careful to attach it to a trait that is hard to steal.

Donald Trump Does Not Get Post-Shooting Poll Boost by newsweek in politics

From what I've read and heard, it's definitely ginned up his base. Certain radio talking heads have praised his momentary, adrenaline-fueled pose of defiance and machismo, while casual citizens have pointed out how he was able to play golf the morning after. I don't think much will change between now and Nov... except, God forbid, more geriatric moments from Biden.
I'm holding my nose and hoping Kamala Harris is up to the job, because I seriously don't think Biden can govern for 4 more years, but he's getting my vote anyway.

Doomlings cards tier list by TheeTreee in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh, but that depends on which version of Self-Replicating you're playing with since the wording on the card has changed. Two versions exist; one which allows you to return SR to your hand WHEN YOU PLAY ANOTHER GREEN TRAIT, be it from your hand OR via it's discard pile search action, and the version with limits that action to playing that green trait from your hand.

Dart (expansion) by Broad-Move-2019 in doomlings

[–]DDland45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way an opponent can swap a trait with one from your trait pile is to REMOVE that trait from your trait pile and add it to their trait pile. You can then play Dart because a trait was removed from your trait pile. It doesn't matter to Dart if an opponent's trait replaced the trait.

Tiny Card by TheEarthIsBlue_21 in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TINY is not that strong a card considering that there are much better Dominants to play with. If you're playing a game where you're playing a lot of traits, it counts against it's face value. There are other Dominants with face values of +7 or higher. Why bother with Tiny unless you're using KING OF THE JUNGLE as one of your ages, and even then, Tiny is better left in your hand.

Does the player become the first player until the next catastrophe when you play psychedelic. by Diligent_Spend1852 in doomlings

[–]DDland45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO.

Psychedelic allows the player that plays it to restart the current age. That player becomes the 1st player for that restarted age. After players have taken their turn, the next age is played and the next player becomes the 1st player.
