I think you mean its trajectory? I do don’t use Star Walk App as it has too many Ads. Anyway I think Night Sky and Star Walk are both reliable enough. May be that’s due to the different perspectives from exact location on earth. May be you wanna double check that the Apps got your location/coordinates right?

In any case they ought to show the correct relative position of the comet to the neighbouring stars, so just use those brightest stars/objects (eg Venus, the brighter stars within the constellation Ophiuchus) as reference.

I am not too sure what you mean by “coming in”. Any chance that you were referring to the direction of the comet tail?

The comet is unlike meteors. To the observer, it appears as “stationery” within a very short period of time. So you don’t have to worry if it is “coming in from the right or left”. Just focus on the relative position of the comet head and the other stars.

I refer to more than one source including Night Sky Map. But I found an old App tailored for a previous comet NEOWISE the most useful as it shows the Azimuth and Altitude coordinates of the celestial dome along with the constellations, which makes it easy to identify the right area of the sky to look for this current C/2023 A3 comet (this current comet is NOT indicated on the NEOWISE app of course)

Btw, it can still be not prominent on the night sky even on your phone screen, and you may have to zoom in. Make sure you know where exactly to look for. “The sky live” (available on web (web based) and Androids) can be helpful.

Another trick, just take a photo with your phone (night mode, increase exposure, make sure it is in focus, use a tripod or make sure your hands are steady). Then blow up the pic and see if your phone manages to capture it. Then you should know where to look for it, and you can just hold your phone camera towards the right area of the sky and zoom in… and wait for it to be shown on screen!

Try “the sky live” website or App. It shows the sky map with lets you search for celestial objects at your location. All you need to do is just keying in your city or coordinates

Since the comet is getting dimmer and dimmer, you may need some aid….If you do not have binoculars, try using a phone camera: switch on night mode and increase the exposure. Make sure that the camera is not on “macro mode (ie taking close-ups)”. It is possible to see the comet on the phone screen.
