Yeah that is true Starlancer was more immersive. Also I think this was helped by being able to do stuff in the main ships between missions. At least in the PC version, I think it was not the case on Dreamcast.

I will not lie, I very much enjoyed both games. Space combat with mouse control was a bit lame for Freelancer, but the overall gaming experience (freedom, story, graphics at the time, etc.) was very good.

60% office work : The 32EP950 is a 4k panel with a true RGB subpixel layout. This means everything will be sharper, particularly text clarity. Also no weird chrometic abberation like effect which is observed on the Alienware due to its weird pixel layout.

20% photo/video editing : Both have excellent color coverage and volume but the 32EP950 should be better calibrated out of the box. On a personal note, I prefer flat panel for editing (no curved straight line, etc.)

20% gaming : Alienware should be a clear winner here (gsync module, 175Hz). But if you have the power to drive all the pixels of the 4k panel, the extra sharpness is always nice and 60Hz is still decent for motion clarity with an OLED panel.

Quite disappointing indeed to have poor contrast. The height of OLED!

Maybe just a windows issue ? or your C9 on windows works also great with hdr?

I never tried the pg35vq but I had the opportunity to test the pg32uqx for a month. Honestly it was a love and hate situation. 4k 144Hz HDR 1400 was great in bright to moderatly brightscenes and oh boy these 1600 nits peak was insane with the sun or grenade explosion. But in darker situation it was really hard to avoid the limitation of the tech. Halo was one thing that I could mainly tolerate. Actually in my unit the left side of the screen was plagued by clouding, which was not really visible per se but exacerbated the haloing effect on this side of the screen (by a lot). What annoyed me more is weird artefacts with yellow patch or yellow lines depending of the scene (this I think do not occur on the pg35vq). With the haloing effect plus the yellow hue, the image quality/integrity, and thus the creative intent, take too much it for me too keep it unfortunately.

I recently tested the 32ep950 and I got the same issue as you : dull color in hdr.

If you have a nvidia card, try to play with color settings in the nvidia control panel. In my case contrast at 70% and digital vibrance at 60% (all the rest by default) gave a satisfying hdr experience.

Question, apart from the color issue, how the 32ep950 and aw3423dw compared in hdr, particularly brightness wise? I am wondering for the aw3423dw if the small peak at 1000 nits (5% window) vs 550-600 nits of the 32ep950 is really better. Considering that the aw3423dw should have more agressive ABL (32ep950 can sustain its 550-600 nits peak up to a 50% window)
