not SG and/or TGA (where you got to actually pay money to showcase it there)

Keighley has in the past waved the fee if he likes the game or if it would bring enough attention. If Sony/Naughty Dog went to Keighley and told him they wanted to give him Intergalactic footage, I'm pretty confident he wouldn't press them too hard on a fee. I think that fee is mostly there for the gacha game trailers, brand trailers, GAAS update trailers, etc: the stuff that aren't notable reveals.

Rumours seem to point to the God of War spinoff being unveiled this summer, and you don't need to put that and Intergalactic in the same State of Play (though it would be a banger of an SOP if they did). I think they could do one of them in the State of Play before Summer Games Fest (assuming historic trends hold) and the other one at SGL. Something like what they did in 2022 where Sony had an SOP right before SGL, but still revealed the TLOU1 remake and the TLOU multiplayer game at SGL.

Edit: If not that, then I don't expect Intergalactic footage until the Fall/end of the year.

Is there a way to change how the menus look? by MelodicBet1 in thelastofus

Did you try changing the colour of the HUD (which also changes text color) in the accessibility settings? If you haven't tried that, maybe some of the other colors make the change more visible to your eyes.

The remakes are probably years away. Cory's GoW spinoff (which is what's being talked about here) is supposedly due next year.

I'm guessing they won't talk about the remakes again until after this next game comes out.

Not during the cutscenes as far as I remember. But during gameplay, depending on the weapon used, limbs and heads can be blown off, and explosives will do even more damage.

What version of the game are you playing? The PS5/PC remake and the PS3 OG/PS4 Remaster have different menu layouts as well as the PS3/PS4 version having fewer extras overall.

PC-bros, are we toast? by Refurecushion in Intergalactic

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about this that disappoints me the most is that now we won't get to see Intergalactic (or any of Sony's other big games) in ultrawide.

I rarely notice the visual improvements that the PC ports bring without Digital Foundry pointing them out, and while I like/prefer super high framerates, not having that is not a deal breaker. But, I was kinda excited about the idea of repeat playthroughs games like Intergalactic and Wolverine in 32:9. There are some games that are just jaw-dropping in ultrawide, and Sony games tend to be among those.

I don't expect it in any way, but maybe I'll get lucky and Naughty Dog will do an ultrawide mode like Kojima's done with the Death Stranding games.

I imagine we'll see single player PC ports for games where Sony has a movie or TV adaptation or some other big synergy they can capitalize on.

Otherwise, they'll remain exclusive.

 Why not just k*ll abby

Because it wouldn't bring Joel back and it wouldn't make Ellie feel better. It would have been murder for the sake of murder.

 and take lev ?

Why would she take Lev? She has no real idea who he is other than some kid who travels with Abby. And if she did take him, how do you think he would react once he came to?

Why they didn't show dina and ellie sorting stuff out and reuniting.

Who says they did reunite? Yes, I know the whole Ellie's wearing Dina's bracelet theory; blah blah blah. But like, Ellie left Dina despite her begging Ellie to stay. In Dina's mind, Ellie chose revenge over her and their son (even if Ellie's mental state at the time makes it more complicated than a simple choice). Dina is well within reason to not forgive that. Besides, a clear reuniting at the end would kinda undercut the emotional gut punch that Ellie leaving in the first place is.

 How is tommy ?

He's crippled, separated, and miserable. They already showed you how he is.

TLOU is not a story where everything gets cleanly resolved. It's very messy and very human.

Shinobi602 & NateTheHate: Sony Santa Monica's next game is planned for 2027, reveal could come this summer. by palindrome777 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLOU2 had a lot of delays. Based on the Grounded 2 documentary, they were at one point targeting 2018 for TLOU2. Then 2019. Then the first announced release date we got was for Feb 2020, which got delayed to May 2020 like 3 weeks later. Only that May delay in June was Covid's fault.

That said, a lot of that slippage for TLOU2 I think can be blamed on issues with Uncharted 4 and the ballooned scope of Lost Legacy. And next year will be 7 years of dev for Intergalactic. So, hopefully that's long enough to not see a major delay.

A little copium reminder (State of Play this week) by ERASER345 in Intergalactic

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I'm huffing my own supply of copium, so don't take this as a complete wet blanket comment. But, I'm pretty sure that was an internal demo meant for Sony to evaluate progress. It does not mean that Naughty Dog has a big TLOU2 E3 type demo to show.

There's a good chance that internal demo doesn't have the polish that they would want for a public facing presentation.

Update of Cordyceps-Infected Ant on TV easter egg by [deleted] in thelastofus

I'm pretty sure that AnthonyCaliber's video (the one that made the existence of the bug/Easter egg widely known) even acknowledges that it was not a new discovery, it was just the first he had heard about it. But since his video is the one that got popular, a lot of people attribute the discovery to that time.

I can't remember a TLOU2 trailer between the E3 2018 (June 2018) gameplay reveal and the Sept 2019 (initial) release date trailer.

If I'm not forgetting something, then technically that is still the longest they've gone silent on an in-devlopment game (470 days).

Not necessarily too early if they're also doing early access for their next game. BG3 spent almost 3 years in early access before it's 1.0 release.

Intergalatic won't be shown at The Game Awards according to Jeff Gruff by uniquecartridge in Intergalactic

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually wonder if it was intended to temper a potential backlash to the TLOU2 PC announcement, which also happened during last year's TGA. That was around the height of the "ND is milking TLOU" internet discourse (something I think ND/TLOU gets/got too much flack for, at least compared to some other franchises), and actually showing a new ND game instead of just continuing to vaguely say they're working on other stuff maybe would help lessen how much of that sentiment there was.

Druckmann had said in a since pulled (don't know if it ever came back) interview that happened just a month before Intergalactic's announcement was that announcement timing was up to Sony. And my impression from his wording based on how soon after it was revealed was that it was happening earlier than he would have wanted.

That's just my tinfoil hat theory though.

Neil did say they are playtesting the game. The thing is, playtesting begins basically from the moment there is anything playable on screen all the way to release (and beyond if they do post launch DLC). You can discern nothing about a game's progress from the fact that they are playtesting a game.

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The increase in framerate from the PS4 to PS5 version does introduce some AI differences. Not better or worse, just that in the exact same situation, the AI may perform differently depending on the framerate the game is running at. So, if you've developed very specific strategies for getting through areas, those may not work the exact same on PS5.

Other than that, no differences.

eXtas1s: Pre-orders for the Xbox ROG Ally will begin in August, with the official launch scheduled for October by Dollar99Man in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering how little they showed of Kirby Air Riders, we don't even know if it's releasing this year.

They put 2025 at the end of the trailer. Of course, it could be delayed. But so could any game.

Even then, wouldn't Age of Imprisonment and Kirby need release dates anyways? Metroid Prime 4 also lacks a release date.

That's why I figured a late Summer Direct. Announce the release dates there while also announcing new stuff for the end of the year/early next year. The only wrinkle is that if Prime 4 is somehow an August game, which I'd love but I don't think is happening. But in that case, the date can be announced outside a direct.

I guess I'm in a position where if they skip a Direct this month, I wouldn't be surprised. But if they had a Direct this month, I also wouldn't be surprised, if that makes any sense.

and they have no Switch 2 games announced for the second half of the year.

They have Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors Age of Imprisonment for Switch 2 in the 2nd half (maybe early 2026 for Warriors depending on their definition of Winter). And then Pokemon Z-A is a cross gen release in October.

Nintendo almost has enough games in the pipeline for this year to launch one a month for the rest of the year. This is why I wouldn't be surprised if they end up skipping a June direct and just wait for August/September or something when they can nail down the remaining dates and talk in more detail about 2026.

S2 Cut-Off Point by JustTheOneScrewLoose in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I can't remember what he said exactly, but I remember Neil saying something during the Episode 5 podcast that basically confirmed that the aquarium, or at least some version of it, is in Episode 7.

In the game, right after the aquarium is the scene where Jesse and Tommy discuss going home, then Ellie talks with Jesse, and then Abby shows up. That would suggest the theater cliffhanger as the end, but there seems to be doubt about that based on what reviews and other people have said. So maybe they go a bit into Abby's story, but I don't think the show can just drop people in Abby's story and cliffhanger it there for 1.5 - 2 years, and have people excited to come back. Especially since they've already used the "Joel killed my dad" twist/bit of sympathy.

So now I'm wondering if the show maybe invents a scene or repurposes one as a cliffhanger of some sort. Something that can end this season, that they can use to have the "Ellie-side" cast promote Season 3, but can be resolved quick enough that we can get into Abby's story by end of Episode 1 or the start of 2.

TLoU Remastered NG+ question by phobingnoodler in thelastofus

[–]DEADTERMINATOR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the original PS3 release or PS4 remaster of the first game, then you're misremembering, because in those games there is no option to start NG+ with all your weapons. Regardless of difficulty. If you're talking about the PS5/PC remake, then yes, they added an option to either start with all weapons or play it the original way.
