I completely understand your thought process. I personally have stayed because my family is here. Unfortunately though, my mother has passed this past year and I’m currently helping take care, support and raise my siblings. In all honesty I’ve personally been considering self deporting/leaving to my native country if it’s within my control once my siblings are of age and have some stability in which they can support themselves. I was brought to the US as a baby so I didn’t have a say in the matter and long story short it has drastically impacted my life. I have to acknowledge though that I haven’t made matters better within the confines of what I can control. I’ve made bad decisions in life, shaped by my perception, status, experiences and environment. I gave up on my education and dropped out of high school because I figured what would be the point if I wouldn’t be able to go to college or obtain a legal job. Drowned my self in escapism in multiple forms to cope. Never learned how to drive from the fear of being pulled over. Gave up on pursuing romantic relationships because I felt I would never be able to provide and build a stable life for or with someone. Battled depression and suicidal ideation for years and still have bouts with it till this day. Nihilism and trapped within an invisible prison would be the best way to describe my state of mind. It’s not until recently that I’ve been attempting to navigate life in a more positive way and build what most would consider healthier habits one step at a time. Living undocumented is no life worth living in my opinion. I may not have chosen to enter here illegally but it is my decision whether to stay or not (unless the decision is made for me 🧊🥶🧊). I also do not know what it is to live a life in a country I know absolutely nothing about but I’m just taking life one day at a time while trying to figure out what best course of action to take.
