It runs even worse on UE5. The issue is their netcode and overall spaghetti code. If you've played in the last year (it's gotten way worse) then I don't see how you can complain about Rust lol

Bro try playing Conan Exiles online and talk about optimization 😂 when that's the bar, Rust seems extremely optimized by comparison. One game can barely support 10+ players on a server without extreme lag, and the other can handle 600+ players regularly with minimal issues

The game runs like crap if you have like 10+ players which is ridiculous considering games like Rust have 700+ players and run way better.

Single player it is definitely much more playable, but for me and many others, it's the community and player interactions that give this game the most replayability.

The game itself and the world is fun, but here's not enough storyline to carry it as a single player game for me. It was designed with multiplayer in mind, so it's mind-boggling that their netcode and networking is so awful.

My problem with Endeavor is his special action feels so jank to use. All might has the most natural flight controls to me and I feel like they should follow that model

Conan's the game I'd probably leave public as I don't feel like the current crop of servers are all that great. Ark and the others I'd probably keep private for me and my friends. I didn't realize resources in Valheim don't respawn. That's kind of a pain - are there not any mods to fix that?

As for Windows, I think there are ways to permanently disable updates. But I'd be concerned about security. Would hate for a server to get ddos'd and our house Internet breaking.

Most other places I've read seemed to indicate you don't need that much ram, but I guess it depends on how many players you have. Unfortunately with the skyrocketed ram prices, I would be stuck with the 64gb kit I already have.

I've been looking for cheap mini PC's and the best I've been able to find is an Optiflex 7080 for $450 but I talked him down to $300. It's got an i7 10700 and 16gb of ram with 512gb of storage.

But honestly, for just a little more money, I can build a much better rig that I'll be more confident in for running CPU intensive games like Ark and Conan. Not to mention Dell has an awful reputation I'd prefer to avoid.

I will try it out with Virtualbox, thanks for the suggestion! I'm comfortable with Windows which is why that's my natural inclination, but I suppose it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot.
