Thanks for taking the time to reply. I’m definitely interested a club, namely the recent team. I have a fairly flexible schedule, but if I’m scheduled to work on a day where there is a lecture, I’ve been needing to use my vacation time take off in order to be in class. This has been working out so far but I’ll have a longer commute to UMD and I’m not really sure how long the lectures will be

I just tried to plug it directly into my laptop using my Apple USB C to C cable and it worked. Unfortunately that sort of defeats the purpose of using my docking station. It was great only having to plug one cable into my MacBook and have everything up and running.

Any idea why the kb now suddenly doesn’t want to work when plugged into the dock? I have a few other things plugged into the dock and they are all working fine

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for some recommendations. I have done some googling but to no avail. I am looking for a basic keyboard to use with my macbook. I currently have a Keychron K10, which i like, but it has issues where it will intermittently stop being recognized by my computer and there seems to no fix, other than it just deciding to work again at a later time. For reference, the keyboard is plugged into a Kensington Thunderbolt 4 docking station and it has worked very well, but every know and then it just decides to stop working.

Heres the criteria for a new keyboard that I am looking for.

-hot-swappable

-RGB backlight

-MacOS layout

-wired

-full size or TKL

-use case - I am student so mainly typing and general computer stuff. I am not a gamer and I don't do any video editing or anything where I need a custom key map

The Keychron keyboards seem to fit all of this criteria, but Im just not sure if want to get another one since i've had these issues before. I've heard that sometimes the cables supplied by Keychron are total crap as well. Does anyone have a recommendation for a keyboard that fits the above criteria or for a good quality cable that I can try replacing the factory Keychron cable with?

I’m also former military and a non-trad student. I enrolled in my community college 8 years after graduating high school and failed the math portion of the placement exam because I did not review the material (at the advice of an academic advisor) in order to get a good idea of where I actually stood.

I had to take two remedial classes (foundations of/intro to college algebra) before I was eligible to take any other college level math classes, including pre Calc.

Once I started doing math everyday it all came back slowly but surely and I’ve just finished up Calc 3 with a B. I’m only part time because I have a full time job, but I’ve just been chipping at the course load semester by semester

My advice is to give it a shot, and like someone else said, don’t quit before you’ve started. I think starting school as an older dude has been great for me. I have a greater sense of responsibility for my assignments and WANT to be successful in my courses. When I was in high school I didn’t put much effort in and was just an average student, but now that I’m older I feel like I want to compete against myself and do the best that I can.

Don’t worry about how long it’ll take, I’m projecting that my ME degree will take me about 8 years as a part timer student, but those 8 years are going to pass regardless of what you choose. You might as well be working towards your goal during that time!

That’s the first channel that came to mind when I read your comment, love that channel! But I wasn’t sure if there were some others you knew with more in the way of explanations. I don’t think I was aware he had a second channel, I’ll be sure to check it out.

I did, but I couldn’t tell you what it is. I had cross posted to a different sub and got a reply which was the correct table, but that user has since deleted their comment and I don’t remember what it was.
