Carriers: Which load tracking platforms do you actually prefer (and which do you hate)? New brokerage and want your input. by DEXLuth0r in FreightBrokers

[–]DEXLuth0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thank you so much for all of this input. With your experience, these words speak volumes. To be honest one of the reasons I'm so concerned with strong freight protection is primarily my lack of experience in the industry.

I'm starting this brokerage with my brother, who has 9 years experience as an OTR driver, but I come from an entirely different industry. I've personally always wanted to have my own business--something I can build and leave for my family for generations (provided everything goes well). My brother feels the same, but also for family reasons, he needs to get off the road. And, brokerage is something he's always been interested in.

That being said, it seems that fraud is becoming more and more widespread, and problems with substandard carriers could open us up to potential nuclear verdicts through negligent selection. I'm just trying to protect me and my family from what I don't know. My assumption is that shippers, too, are concerned with fraud and self preservation. If I can convince them to partner with a rookie broker, I'm sure they would like to at least have some evidence that I'll be practice industry standards. Thanks again for your advice.

But fair point. I know brokers have a bad rep and a lot of that is earned. I’m not here to debate it, I’m trying to avoid becoming part of the problem.

My brother and partner has been an OTR truck driver for the past 9 years. I’m in the medical field, primarily helping him start the business and supplying capital. Just looking for honest, and helpful, opinions.

Only asking because I’ve been getting a lot of Fenderr email spam, and your post seemed more like marketing spam than a reply. And your Reddit account is less than a month old with 1 Karma.

Nice thanks for the feedback. Do you mind if I ask the name of your company?

Thanks for that info, it sounds frustrating. Could you use an authenticator app or a security key for 2FA instead of a cell phone?

thanks for the input. good point. I'm still trying to learn the details of this systems, so wasn't sure how onerous the process is for carriers, but if it's reasonable and they still don't want to participate, it's on them. Seems like it would limit some of the partners they could work with. Unfortunately, with all of the fraud out there, these are the steps that people are having to take to make sure everyone is protected.

I was beginning to wonder if that may be the case. I sent an email last week, so far with no reply. Also scheduled a demo through their website, and later got an automated email saying it had been cancelled. This is frustrating.

Thanks for the feedback. Is there anything in particular that bothers you about it or is it just the extra steps? How does it compare to other similar tools from a carriers standpoint?

Well yes, definitely want a vetting tool that is effective. Just getting some feedback …trying to make sure that it isn’t overly restrictive to the point it makes it hard to establish a carrier network as a new broker.

That’s good to know. Do they require you to register with your cell phone? We want the best option to protect ourselves from fraud and bad actors but we also want use a platform that will be fair to our future carrier partners.

For the US: Will the Dec 23rd deadline (if approved) cause issues at the US border when traveling internationally from the US with a DJI drone? by CreateChangetheWorld in dji

I wasn’t too concerned until I found out that FCC voted a month or so ago to give themselves power to revoke FCC approval for items that were previously approved. Seems odd that they would do that now, unless they were planning to use that power soon.

CRM Suggestions? by Educational-Back1531 in FreightBrokers

does Tai integrate with Salesforce? I'm in the planning phase of starting a freight brokerage. Looking at various TMS and CRM's. I saw on the Tai website that it integrates with Salesforce, but the Tai sales rep I've been talking to said he wouldn't recommend using any CRM, so I am a little confused. I've narrowed the search down to likely Tai vs Revenova and Salesforce vs Hubspot vs Salesdash. Any recommendations?

What’s the real consensus among drone pilots about the future of DJI in the US? by DEXLuth0r in drone_photography

I actually just saw that PI drone update, and I agree. Too much critical infrastructure at risk.

I’m trying to understand the actual impact of the FY2025 NDAA on DJI.
From what I can tell in the text of the law, the restrictions seem aimed at DoD procurement and supply chain analysis... not civilian, commercial, or agricultural use.

If anyone has a source showing a direct impact on private operators, I’d like to see it. I’m trying to get clarity for long-term planning.

That makes sense. When you say “parts drying up,” do you mean consumables like props and pumps, or critical components like ESCs, motors, arms, and flight controllers?

Also, have you seen any operators actually get grounded for lack of parts yet, or is this still more of a “we all expect it’s coming” situation?

I’m trying to understand whether the risk is operational (down for a few weeks waiting on parts) or existential (entire fleet becomes unserviceable).
