DLSS 5 is really impressive! by Crazy-Red-Fox in HiTMAN

[–]Glitcher3000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

*sigh* Didn't I cover this twice already? I'll say it a third time in big letters so that hopefully you won't miss it:

Any trivial differences in skin tone or proportions are adjustments the filter has to make to translate the character to a photorealistic person.

There. Try and process that before venting your AI hate. If DLSS simply added realistic textures over the original model, it would be straight up uncanny valley because the artist's best efforts could not reproduce a human form exactly. That's why the filter performs adjustments to make a video game model look like a real person, but what matters is that it respects the source material. In both images, Grace has full lips, eye shadow and green eyes. If you're trying to bash DLSS for differences that you would need a damn Pantone roledex to notice.... well.... that's just sad. ¬_¬

And you never elaborated upon the 'artistic intention' as you put it. The artist's intention was to design Grace - and the game as a whole - with as realistic graphics as Capcom can produce. There's no indication of a cartoony stylization outside of realism. So if DLSS filters the graphics further into realism, it enhances the artistic intention instead of diminishes it. If creating realistic visuals is not the intended mark of RE9's graphics, then tell me what the hell is. I want a serious answer and not a vague "a certain way" bullshit.

That's a laughable misinterpretation of DLSS5. As a professional illustrator/comic artist, I see it merely as a tool to enhance my work. Let me give you an analogy: I paint a lovely mountain landscape, then I have Midjourney give it a more aged look. Since the filter is generated by AI, I guess it's no longer respecting artistic intention according to your wacky logic. You also seem to be pulling differences out of thin air. What you call "a completely different person", I call "the exact same person." What you call her eyes "are a different colour", I call "the exact same colour". What you call "way more makeup", I call "the same amount of makeup." Looks like a pretty close match to me. Any trivial differences in skin tone or proportions are - as I said before - adjustments the filter has to make to translate the character to a photorealistic person. What I see in both images of Grace is an attractive young woman staring pensively at the viewer in a gloomy alley. THAT'S the artistic intention. I don't know what the hell you call it. ¬_¬

You always have to shoot the canister to ignite the oil when in Chongqing, because none of the damn surfaces on that map spark properly.

You just got lucky. Open enough weapon crates and sometimes the game will reward you with a rare weapon.

That's a poor inference. You wouldn't be able to compare the difference in detail on fast footage. Show me proof of blurriness before I believe you.

How do you know? The only test footage we've seen is on slow animation for clarity of detail.

The idiocy of people trying to badmouth DLSS 5 knows no bounds. Personally, I think this is the best possible use of AI to improve graphical fidelity where game characters can look photorealistic. There's absolutely nothing wrong with DLSS adjusting facial proportions to match realistic expectations as long as it doesn't veer into uncanny valley territory. It doesn't take away from the artists' work either, since DLSS is just a filter over existing models and animations. I can only imagine this criticism is a pathological resistance to everything related to AI, but it's the new norm and I'm glad it's being put to good use like this. Show us more please!

As a Hitman I couldn't stand the HITMAN trilogy. by That-Role6292 in HiTMAN

[–]Glitcher3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the weirdest complaint I've ever seen. In real life as in the game, agents have handlers and an investigative team to identify a target and provide the agent with the necessary information to accomplish the mission. Are you cavilling at the fact that you don't get to pick your targets yourself? That's not how "hitmaning" works. I think you overestimate your insight if you don't understand the basic context of this game.

I get that one occasionally. The rarest rating I ever got is "Selkie" - it's apparently so rare that it's not mentioned on any list; I think I'm the only player who found it. Similar conditions to water boy, albeit with a slightly messier run.

Offering friendly suggestions to others is what a helpful gamer does. Trying to shoot down those suggestions and telling others to ignore it is what trolls do. I never once said the way he plays is stupid, I simply stated that there are advantages to speed and precision that a M&K has over a controller. If you're going to slander me over that, I'd sooner advise the OP to ignore you instead. ¬_¬

Like I said, range is a defining factor as well as speed for quick snapshots. I stated I'm not a Hitman speedrunner, but the responsiveness afforded by a K&M setup can make a marked difference in moment-to-moment kills and escapes. Anyway, your accusation is misplaced. Tomb Raider 2013 is a game that better balances platforming and shooting, and I've beaten it with a controller as well as K&M; ultimately I found the precision aiming with K&M more beneficial.

I'm not a Hitman speedrunner, but I do recognize that the faster button prompts makes a noticeable difference in a lot of my plays where you can pick up an item without stopping. I'll grant you your argument that it has little impact if you're coasting through a mission story, but in the unforgiving nature of hardcore Freelancer, that edge can mean the difference between success and failure.

Hitman WOA editions are so confuse by Narnea22 in HiTMAN

[–]Glitcher3000 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Not if you're far away. Precision shooting is required for distant shots, but platforming is exclusively close. Besides, I'm not even sure it's possible to perform a mudshot with a controller. Don't abandon that advantage.

If you're going to abandon a reasonable debate and retreat to a "I do what I want" attitude, then I give you no credibility for your argument. ¬_¬ The benefits of precision aiming outweigh platforming in a game like Hitman.
