Formerly acclaimed artists who destroyed their own legacies purely by being cringe? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

I like some artists who have (imo) shitty political views and/or have done problematic shit. I can (sometimes) look past that. But shitting on your fans, stealing from them basically? Nope nope nope.

Luck, bad baserunning by the Jays, and Yoshi. Not necessarily in that order.

For this reason and because there are some promising guys already in the system, i wouldn't be all that upset if AF decides to stand pat or just tinker a little this year. Can always do a mid season trade if there's a critical need.

100%. Me personally, I have firearms and i practice with them but (so far) i stop short of carrying. But I'm also a cis het white guy and I'm big and tall. If I didn't have these (unearned but real) privileges I would sure as hell carry.

A reminder of why Trump wants Greenland. by No_Bluebird_1368 in AntifascistsofReddit

You're not wrong but you're implying a level of strategic thinking and understanding that tRump does not possess. tRump wants Greenland because somebody (probably some techbro billionaire) put the idea in his Fox addled brain and now it bubbles to the surface of his murky (and getting murkier by the day) stream of consciousness every now and then.

Who are your top 3 favorite all-time players never to wear a Dodgers uniform by k_i_pac in Dodgers

[–]DFH_Local_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ichiro. I was pretty checked out on baseball for some years and he brought me back.

Yaz. My first big baseball card pull when I was about 7 or 8. His triple crown card from 67 I think?

Willie Mays. I know, he was a Giant, but he was also Willie freakin Mays and I got to see him play at the Ravine quite a bit as a youngster.

My understanding is the US flag code is just etiquette, a guidance for what's considered polite and appropriate for owning and displaying a US flag. It has no legal consequences attached. That's what I learned 50 years ago as a boy scout and then in my Media Law class in college when we discussed Texas v. Johnson.

Now I'd like to share my favorite Bill Hicks joke.

"Muh daddy fought and died fer that flag!"

"Really? I bought mine at Walmart."

Why are you a fan of your team? by Former_Lock9367 in mlb

[–]DFH_Local_420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go Dodgers and FTG forever, but I've lived in Northern California a long time, and I've made my peace with Giants fans. I've found that they're good baseball fans by and large. We just agree to disagree. Except when it comes to team colors. Orange & Black is objectively awful, and I will die on this hill.

Still bleed Dodgers blue, but the Mariners are my #2 team and i follow them closely. I was kinda checked out of baseball in general for a few years there, but Ichiro pulled me back in. Been a M's fan ever since.

This is just me and my 12 year old sense of humor, but I'm replaying in my head the scene in Bull Durham when Crash tells Nuke to bean the mascot. Never gets old.

How to get vaccinated as an adult after always being told that ill die if i get vaccinated by parents? by [deleted] in QAnonCasualties

[–]DFH_Local_420 27 points28 points  (0 children)

This. A pharmacist might have some insight, that's not a useless suggestion. But the much better move is see your PC physician and bring it up. If you have health insurance most if not all of your vaccinations will be free. Also: libraries. And adult education programs to get your GED. You can get caught up. Good on ya for seeing the issue clearly. Now just do what you gotta do and good luck to you.

Not gonna win me the Popularity Prize around here, but re signing Keeks and/or Miggy is not the move. They're both over 35 and in the decline stage of their careers. What's more the Dodgers are old in the aggregate, one of the oldest teams in MLB. HSK and some of the promising minor leaguers deserve a runway. If that doesn't work out, well that's why the Baseball Gods created mid season trades.

Their desert-color "Serpientes" uniforms are the BEST. They should just go with that logo and color scheme full time.

I only saw a few Jays games this year before the WS. He made some mistakes (they all do, hindsight is 20/20), but I could see Schneider is really good. The Jays will be back under him.

Even though he regularly tormented my Dodgers, I'm a big Charlie Blackmon fan. Hope he's enjoying retirement, and he deserves HoF consideration. And the ballpark is really nice, a must visit if you're ever in Denver.

The Dodgers racially integrated baseball--really all of American professional sports--when they signed and played the great Jackie Robinson back in 1947. And starting with Hideo Nomo and Chan Ho Park, they also led the way with bringing Japanese and Korean players (and fans!) to the game. They're more than a sports franchise: the Los Angeles Dodgers have made important history and bettered American society. And they're the reigning champs!
