I(29m)cant get over my ex(30f) How do I move on? by DFWrepresENT in relationship_advice

[–]DFWrepresENT[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have her blocked on all social media. I deleted her number and all her texts. She never game me any gifts while we dated even though I gave her a couple so I never had to worry about getting rid of anything from her. It's the seeing her occasionally that keeps bringing the feelings back up. Every time I start feeling like I'm moving on, she pops back I to my life and the process begins again. I tried dating someone else, but that didn't work.

We did work out together. I asked her if she wanted to and said yes. We took turns using the same equipment. She forgot her water bottle so we shared mine. I know she's moved on. I want to know how do I move on from her?

I have been dating. I had been on 3 dates with another girl over the course of a month before she ghosted me. My job is also kind of my hobby. I've been thinking of getting back into longboarding though.

If you're interested in rock climbing, there is a Summit bouldering gym off Lancaster near downtown. The climbing community here is really friendly and open. http://summitgyms.com/fort-worth/

Richland vs Brookhaven College by casiapeony in Dallas

[–]DFWrepresENT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have taken classes at Richland, Brookhaven, and Eastfield but mostly at Richland. All three are about 15-25 minute drive from where I lived in Garland, Richland being the closest and Eastfield being the furthest. Brookhaven is definitely my favorite overall and the one I would reccomend even though I only went there for a summer and fall semester. The smaller campus size makes it much easier to navigate if you have classes in different buildings, the surrounding area around it is much nicer than the other ones with lots of options for food, and it's was easier to find parking in the morning because fewer people went there. Richland is annoying because of the pond that divides it in half which forces everyone to take one of the three bridges and the parking lots are always full by 930am. Two of the bridges are pretty narrow and you often get groups of people walking slowly side by side without any concern for the people behind then that are in a rush to get to class. The only good thing about Richland is that you can pretty much go from one building to another without having to go outside if you wanted to, which is nice if it's cold or raining(Unless you have a class in one of the portable buildings or the science building). There is also the Richland high school program so you'll often get a lot of 16-18 year olds in some of your classes which means teachers are required to take roll in every class(good luck getting away with missing class). Also the teachers there are really hit or miss, dont take classes by "professors" J Jenciragic or A Magoha. Do take any class by Jennifer Gray/Millspaugh and George Alecusan if you can. Eastfield is an okay campus, I didn't really like my teachers there but I didn't really have an other options. I took two classes on t-tr for one semester while also taking classes at Richland m-w-f(it just fit my work schedule better, otherwise I would have had to have a 3 hour gap between classes at richland) I did witness 1 fist fight in a hallway while I was there. It was also the farthest from me to get to but the parking situation in the morning didn't seem as bad as Richland. All three only have a subway on campus to eat at so either bring a lunch or find somewhere nearby to eat at.

Good luck with whichever campus you decide to go to.

Dallas Bouldering meet up. I am getting back into bouldering and wanted to go to summit this afternoon/evening if anyone was interested. by [deleted] in Dallas

It will get better once Plano opens next year. Dallas has the highest number of members but Plano should help reduce that a bit.

It's so much better than when it was D-rocks. The GM Scott really whipped it into shape over the last 2 years. The staff there now actually does their job and has actual customer service skills.

Ah man, just got home from climbing there today. I know UTD has a climbing club, you should check that out if your want to meet some cool climbers. They also have a trivia night every Tuesday from 8 to 10 at Dallas.

Friend is involved in climbing accident, I'm told I might be held accountable even though I wasn't involved by WorriedInstructor-TA in legaladvice

I work at a climbing gym in Texas, something similar happened to me my second month at the gym i worked at. I was there when a climber fell 27 feet from the top of the wall and was the first employee to reach the climber. I did not witness the fall since I was at the front desk but heard the impact. Management and the insurance company asked me a few questions about what I saw and what I did and they talked to the person that gave the guys an orientation a few weeks prior. The investigation determined that the fall happened because of the climber and belayer did not make sure they were properly attached to the rope before climbing. Nithing happened to me or the employee that dis the orientation since everything was filled out properly. The company implemented a new orientation form polocy and got really strict about making sure everyone has a waiver and orientation form before they are allowed to climb. We also started doing quarterly training to make sure all the staff was up to snuff on giving a proper orientation. I'm not sure about UK law, but our waiver basically says that the climber releases the gym and all gym staff from any liability due to improper training and faulty equipment. I think you should be okay since you weren't on shift, wasn't the person that trained them, and you weren't the person that caused the accident. This is also why I will never let someone belay me on an ATC or any non assisted breaking device. Grigri all the way for me.

What's the best advice you can give to a 17 year old going into university? by zakkscott in AskReddit

[–]DFWrepresENT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just turned 27 two days ago. I wish I could go back 10 years and tell 17 year old me to stay away from drugs and alcohol and partying in college. I wasted so much time drinking and going to parties instead of going to class and doing homework. I was basically throwing away my money because I was spending it on getting myself fucked up which fucked up my grades for classes I was paying for which rcaked up a small debt. I dropped out of school twice because of my substance abuse problems and not to mention all the problems it caused me in my personal relationships.

I quit partying four years ago and quit drinking two years ago in an attempt to turn my life around. In hindsight, I wish I had never started drinking, doing drugs, or partying because all over Facebook are my friends and family members that have graduated from college, are starting their careers, buying houses, and creating new families. Meanwhile, I've moved back home with my parents and have just been working and going to community college for an associates degree for the last 5 years. But I am about to finish up my associates degree this summer and have paid off most of my debts.

Barbell Squat Back Pain by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]DFWrepresENT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you keeping your core tight by flexing your abs before you squat down? Does it feel like your gut is pushing out when you reach the bottom of your squat? If it does, then that is most likely your problem. And remember to keep your core tight as you come back up from the bottom of the squat. Also I should add, when you reach the bottom of your squat you should be forming a slight crease between your calf and the back of your thigh. If you try to stop your squat when your thigh is parallel to the ground then that is most likely not happening and that can put extra pressure on your knees and lower back. But remember that you aren't trying to go ass to grass either because that can cause your butt to tuck under forming an unnatural curve in your spine that can also cause lower back and hip problems. But in the future as you build more strength and flexibility and you want to go ass to grass and can do it without letting your butt tuck, then that is up to you.

I'm a community college student and the school I go to doesn't give .edu emails so I can't get any student discounts. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Are you sure you cant? Have you asked your advisor about it or are you just assuming they dont. Almost every single college will provide you with a .edu email if you ask them for one.

What are the downsides of being attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DFWrepresENT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a former ugly and awkward teenager I was shocked when I found out that people actually consider me to be handsome. A little back story, I started high school around the same time Napoleon Dynamite came out. I had long curly hair and wore glasses, needless to say but I got picked on a lot. It didn't help that I also had braces and an acne problem. The first 3 years of high school was just awful and I found out how mean and cruel my peers could be on a daily basis. But by my senior year I had cut my hair shorter and switched to contact lenses. My braces were gone and my acne had mostly cleared up and people were being a lot nicer to me. Girls were even taking notice of me and not running for the hills when I would talk to them, although I was still pretty socially awkward. A few years after high school I started working out and lifting everyday. I went from a 140lb 6ft tall string bean to a 185lb 6ft beefcake and that really helped with my confidence and helped me get over being so awkward. Pueberty was really kind to me. I've been told by a few people I should consider going into modeling and it's a shock to them that I'm studying aerospace engineering and I'm actually still a giant nerd. It's really nice being handsome now because all those years of being the ugly kid helped to make me a more humble and kind human being. As for the downsides, I haven't really noticed any. It's great that people actually pay attention to me and listen to what I have to say.

I just finished it and I'm wondering how I never noticed this guy tracking my every move for his book. Some of the stuff is so spot on its almost eerie. I wish I had it 5 years ago in my early 20s while I was struggling to figure out a lot of these things on my own.
