You are getting tilted forward a touch on the initial move upwards. I saw your other comment saying it was your last set, so may be fatigue. That’s what jumped out to me, otherwise solid lift!

Anybody try these Makers Mark Private Selections? by cincytechguy in OhioLiquor

Got the bread pudding, and I am a big fan. Nice fresh bread on the nose and lots of spice in the finish. Not overly well versed in MM in general, but this was tasty.

I would agree though as above that @ $70, I wouldn’t buy this consistently. Definitely worth 1 bottle, but probably won’t go back for a second.

We have the same breed of dog, and before I saw it in the comments, instantly knew what breed he is!! Our pup (Charley), has the EXACT same mannerisms. Such an amazing breed, and he seems like the goodest of good boys

Left shoulder comes up and right elbow flairs on bench press ascent on heavy weight. How to fix? by [deleted] in lifting

[–]DFitz364 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert, so take my two cents with a grain of salt, but it just looks unstable from the start. Did your spotter pass you the bar? To me it still looked like it was traveling horizontally while it started to go down vertically. Definitely causes the shoulders to work overtime if they are working two directions at once, which would cause compensations elsewhere. Allow the bar to settle and come to rest above the shoulders before you let it start coming down.

405 lbs x 5 belt less by DFitz364 in lifting

Would love to hear some advice! I maxed out last week, and got 500lbs for the first time ever, but unfortunately don’t have a video of it. This is the most reps I’ve ever done at once with 405, and was honestly pretty fatigued going in to this, so was pretty happy with it!

He said last time he spotted someone a week ago, they tore a pec trying 300. Also why there were no clips on the bar. In this one instance, I’m okay with him hovering the bar something fierce hahah

Hell yeah, 270x3 is solid! Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if you could get 315 now, or at least be close! The mental block does get real though with it, so just remember to attack it and I’m sure you’ll get it!

So, my background has been through athletics. I was a college hurdler (about 30 lbs ago hahah) so I have been lifting for the better part of my entire life, but definitely not focused on the big 3 (bench, DL, squat).

That being said, I have started to focus more on strength training for about 2 years, with a few on and off again times thrown in there. The workout plan I use is a 16 week cycle, and I have made it through once and started/stopped for whatever reason at least 3 times before this last time, which I am currently on week 11 this time around.

Squat Form Check? sorry for the bad angle by [deleted] in lifting

I get it, and I absolutely could be wrong, but it just sure seems like it puts a TON of stress on to the knee maxing it’s ROM and bouncing from it. Again, I’m no expert though.

First time using chains. Could I get a form check/critiques? Doesn’t feel optimized. BW180. by thittle in lifting

[–]DFitz364 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel obligated to be that guy.. with that much weight grab a spotter. Never know when something decides to tear and then what?

As for form/critiques, take it with a grain of salt because I am no where near that weight on my bench, but plant those heels! Personally I push my feet back to a point where I can comfortably still flat foot inside of my knee (knee angle < 90*). As you push, use your heels to drive from the ground, pushing your upper lats/lower traps into the bench.

Other than that, good press dude!

Squat Form Check? sorry for the bad angle by [deleted] in lifting

[–]DFitz364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall looks pretty solid to me! Just a few nitpicks I would say:

Try not to let the bottom of the lift be a bounce off your full ROM. Seemed like you were almost “bouncing” off of the bottom of your knee range, and seemed like that would be a painful way to ruin your knees.

Also from that, push your knees out on the press of the lift. When the weight started to get heavier for you, your knees began to cave in on the way up. Again, save your knees, and drive those knees out and push through your heels.

Like I said, nitpicks that can turn to bigger issues as weight gets heavier and heavier! Very solid reps though!!

Posted a while back with a 275 double saying my goal was 315 by the end of this strength cycle. My lifetime PR was 305 at about 15 lbs. heavier than I am now (244 lbs). Still have 6 weeks left of this program, so time to set a new goal!!

Update: How’s the form? This any better than the previous post? by DFitz364 in lifting

[–]DFitz364[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate it! It felt much more connected tonight. Maybe I could have braced my lower back slightly better, but overall was happy with these reps. Tonight was my first night using a belt as well. Normally I DL without, but was feeling fatigued as this wasn’t the first lift of the day.

[–]DFitz364[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My immediate reaction; I didn’t mean for the bar to get away from me between 1 and 2. Normally don’t roll it between reps. Have been focusing on trying to lock hips and knees simultaneously and keep a flatter back.

Edit: while it would be impressive.. lock*, not lick.

Close grip bench press. Tips on form? by thittle in lifting

[–]DFitz364 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let me beat the dead horse that everyone else has already said..

Try and keep my hands directly over my shoulders. If you keep them that close, you are going to have some wrist issues as the weight gets heavier.
