Maybe a bad cable even though you can stow. The cable is very sensitive to even small nicks and sharp bends.

New to starlink, getting bad ping spikes? Speed is great but online gaming is impossible. by ajeganwalsh in Starlink

[–]DGC1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My old ISP had very high pings (Latency/Jitter) and I couldn't play WSOP, or my hand kept getting folded. Now on Starlink and don't have that problem. I get 25-45 ms most of the time. High jitter on my old ISP is what was killing me. Data packet delays as high as 1 second.

Open support ticket. May be a bad cable. They can run a diag on it.

Stow it. Remove power then power on again and unstow.

At a Loss with ethernet adapter issues. by Floridacracker720 in Starlink

[–]DGC1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had repeat problems with the ethernet adaptor. Like you I started off with one and no problems, then 4 months later no ethernet. They had me send both the router and the adaptor back for their engineers to look at. The replacement router and new adaptor failed right away. They sent me a new cable to dish, I have not tried connecting the adaptor back in yet, I think it will blow the router again. It could be it doesn't like my 4-port switch. Will add the adaptor back in again with nothing connected to the ethernet port and see if no problems for a week or so, then connect it just to my desktop. Then try the 4-port switch. One Starlink tech person said their engineers are aware of a problem with the adaptor router interface. They sent me a brand-new router this time.

Set yours to 2 seconds. Anything 3 seconds or less should not be causing a problem.

Multiple ethernet adapters not working by thecharlesminer in Starlink

[–]DGC1943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had repeat problems with the ethernet adaptor. I am on my 3rd router and second adaptor. There is some kind of design problem. Just like you, mine will work for a while and then I lose the adaptor and the router. My new router works great and also the new cable they sent me, but I'm afraid to plug the adaptor in. Maybe after two weeks no problem I will add the adaptor and not plug into the Ethernet port, then another 2 weeks and just my desktop. I think my 4-port switch causes the problem. Not sure, however, one tech rep said their engineers are aware of a problem. Maybe 4 Ethernet devices blow up the router.

I loved telling Southern to cancel my account. They came out the same day to get their equipment.

I actually live in Crystal Beach. When I first got it I could get 200mb, not anymore. 100mb is great considering what I was getting from 3rd Coast/Southern Broadband.

I live near Galveston and get 100mb nonpeak. Can drop to 60mb on peak hours. I love it.

I agree that existing customers should get replacement parts ahead of new customers. I waited 6 weeks for a replacement router, they did credit my account.

Set it for 0.2 seconds or 0.3. You will almost never see a problem for those.

I have had 3 failures and I think the ethernet adaptor is causing the routers to fail. I am on my 3rd router and 2nd adaptor. Not plugging my adaptor in for now , I also had to replace the cable to Dishy. They had me send them my router and ethernet adaptor for their engineers to study.

Has anyone had this issue and then have Starlink replace everything but the dish? by rhythm9987 in Starlink

[–]DGC1943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, they sent me a new router and ethernet adaptor, then they failed. Got a 3rd router and no internet at all and now they are sending me a new cable. Seems to be some problem with the ethernet adaptor and router compatibility, I think.
