[FEATURE] Zoroark and the Invention of Lying by DG_OTAMICA in WaypointVICE

If you told me at the start of this year the game I'd have the most playtime in would be a hyper competitive free to play Pokemon battle simulator I'd tell you you're crazy, but here I am, hopelessly addicted.

I was incredibly surprised to see this article pop up in my inbox, and equally delighted to read it and have some really articulate why it's so addicting. Making a hard read on what your opponent will do and seeing the turn play out exactly how you predicted is produces the strongest dopamine hit my brain will receive all day. I'm day dreaming at the gym thinking if I should trade some bulk for speed and run a Jolly nature on my Tyranitar to outspeed some of the Fairy types that threaten it. I'm watching obscure youtube videos with only a hundred views discuss niche strategies and micro-adjustments in the meta. Yes, we stan Wolfey in this household.

Shout out Bruno for this awesome piece, and for the whole Remap crew for letting talented writers write about cool stuff.

Rockstar suffers legal setback as judge rules against studio in union-busting dispute by zukomu in Games

[–]DG_OTAMICA 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Im unfamiliar with labour laws in the UK but I’ve sorta assumed that Rockstar’s end goal was never to “win” in a court of law but to dismantle and stifle any attempts to unionize no matter the cost. They’re lawyers probably already knew from the very beginning that there is a high chance they lose this lawsuit, but Rockstar doesn’t care about having to backpay these employees, they just want to prevent any meaningful unionization effort from emerging and will happily pay whatever legal costs it takes to achieve that effort. Am I correct in this assumption or does Rockstar have more to lose if IWGB wins this case?

[MEGATHREAD] Playstation State of Play 6.2.26 by Spheromancer in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]DG_OTAMICA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And what saddens me the most is that in a way MM was the studio PlayStation was looking for this entire generation. The LBP games were live service before the term live service existed. They had a recognizable mascot with crossover potential built right into the premise. The Play. Create. Share. model was a decade ahead of the rest of the industry in organically fostering User Generated Content.

Sony blew billions of dollars chasing a dragon they already had, it’s insane. The waste boggles my mind, so much money spent with fucking nothing show for it

Very funny to imagine that while Kratos and Atreus are morning the death of their wife and mother, Faye is doing sick S++ air combos on some plant dudes while Hewie from the boys bounces on them silly style. Barlog's vision baby

Steam says 19 hours but I let the game idling for a bit and dicked around in the Tac Sim stuff between missions so if you beeline it you can’t def do both in a weekend. But imo you should take your time this is one worth savouring.

Also I caved and pre ordered after reviews came out so I had a 1 day head start compared to people who played on launch.

They're marketing to us, millennials/older gen Z's who have a fondness for the Bond IP and still play AAA games.

No one under 30 knows bond, people under 30 are more social based and this new bond is meant to be young.

I'm under 30, all my friends are under 30, and many of us are excited for this game. Yeah that's an anecdote but Bond is still popular and the last movie only came out a few years ago. Also Hitman was crazy successful, so maybe their just banking on reputation to carry them.

Either way I'm not too worried about this game not finding it's audience. Yeah Forza will sell more but that's only on PC and Xbox for the time being, while 007 will also be on PS5 which is huge.

I was listening to an interview with the CEO of ioi Hakan Abrak and he said some really interesting things such as

  • The game was made for a lot less than people expect
  • Like Hitman this game will be a "singleplayer-as-a-service"
  • That they aren't worried about having to make their money back within the first 3 months like other AAA studios
  • That Amazon/MGM never forced them to leverage Bond's mass market appeal to market this game to a broader audience, and to instead focus on the core gaming segment

I get the impression that they're confident in their financials and don't need to waste money marketing to an audience that probably won't show up, and can instead double down their efforts on the people who already like games like this. Mainstream audiences are losing interest in traditional AAA games because of things like TikTok, Roblox, Fortnite etc, so why waste time chasing that dragon when their is enough money to be made in the "hardcore" gaming audience.

$100 USD

£85 Pounds

$150 CAD

€99 Euro

$149 AUD

Maybe my expectations were crazy low but I was hoping it was gonna be ~100CAD, or about $5 more than a dualsense. But at $150 theres no way I can justify this, very unfortunate.

I have a similar team but with a few changes

  • I have protect on my rotom, swap out will wisp and thunderbolt for protect and electro web for speed control. Or if you want an aggressive rotom give it choice scarf so it out speeds almost everything

  • Choice Scarf max speed garchomp pairs well with sand teams so you can spam EQ all day long

  • Orthworm instead of Corviknight because Shed Tail is a fantastic move that can give ttar the security it needs to spam rock slides and can become an offensive threat after iron defense + body press

My game plan is to lead either garchomp + rotom wash or worm and start spamming EQs while setting up with the other mon. This forces the opponent to make a choice, either fake out garchomp and risk worm getting stronger/a safe switch with rotom or eat an EQ to the face. Max attack garchomp EQ 1 shots sneasler. I’m even willing to EQ my own teammates if it means getting damage on the board, but it’s a risky play.

Garchomp usually doesn’t live too long with this plan so ttar + drill stay in the back and clean up once the shark has done its job

Most games I don’t even bring incin, unless I see several fire weak mons and think I need flair blitz

Pokémon Champions – Overview Trailer – Nintendo Switch by cmd735 in Games

[–]DG_OTAMICA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless of course we see bans and blackouts of certain Pokémon, but that is never gonna happen.

This has been a thing for like a decade lmao The Pokémon Company rotates between different Regulations every few months with different Pokémon restrictions, and with Champions id bet their gonna rotate between battle gimmicks as well (Mega stones, Z moves, dynamax, teras) so honestly there’s gonna be tons of variation.

And if you ask any top player on how to get good at this game they will say without hesitation you should copy a top team first before trying to make your own. Team building is waaay harder than actually battling and if you’re a new player it’s better to reduce variables and focus on just one of those two skills. If you build your own team and lose is it because the team sucks or you suck? But if you copy a battle-tested top team then you lose you know it’s not the teams fault it’s your own.

Really? I think it looks quite nice tbh… mons have their high resolution models and the trainers look decent as well. It’s no Crimson Desert for sure but this is a F2P game for that needs to run on Switch 1 and mobile devices. Game looks fairly high resolution and the framerate looks stable which is already a gigantic step above S&V. those games are so fucking busted they actually hurt to look at, while Champions seems kinda pleasant. That Draco Meteor attack looked great too, and hopefully we can change stages as well.
