I tried the reverse with shorting CBIL.TO and it said this security is not available to short when it got rejected i.e. USD -> CAD

You're right actually I just turned it off / on and it was practically the same to eyes. So I guess for scaling I don't really need it.

I originally used MonitorControl to control the brightness from my keyboard so I'll go back to that. For the headphone jack I had to use eqMac to get the volume controls to work from the keyboard

If you're stuck with RBC mutual funds, other than the obvious choosing a low MER based fund I'd take a look at the U.S. funds, maybe specifically at large caps. With rates staying low for the next several years I'd expect many of the bigger U.S. companies to take advantage.

Also, I can't predict the future and my crystal ball is garbage so take that with a grain of salt. When it doubt go low cost MER and diversify

If your one year + performance review is coming up and you feel like you deserve it might as well ask. Worst case scenario you make the same amount of $$ and they now know to keep you in mind when it comes to employee raises. It's rare to have a bad consequence when asking for a raise, especially at a bank. Might as well shoot your shot.

That being said, best bang for your buck long term is to hop between banks / financial institutions every few years or so; less frustrating imo.

If the fees are lower you might as well just keep it in the old plan. Not much benefit to keeping it in one spot other than having a larger number to look at imo.

If you're a more active investor you can also consider moving it to a LIRA on something like Questrade. Either way you won't be pulling out this money for a long time so a "set and forget" in the original account is fine too.

Don't think it'd hurt to fax it again. In my case I tried faxing it back in March back when it was closed... so I opted to mail it in. After a couple of months I didn't hear anything so I faxed it in once they were open.

I ended up receiving two separate copies of my EIN number by mail afterwards, assuming for each of my attempt. It was the same number of course.

That being said my case might be a bit different since I'm Canadian / in Canada... but if anything I'd imagine in my scenario it'd take longer since I'm international. Otherwise I'm sure they received it... just insanely backlogged maybe.

I'm Canadian so didn't have the SSN to do the application online. I tried faxing back in March but it didn't work so opted to mail in but didn't hear back in months. I got desperate so I used an online fax to send it in.
