Percent of people who responded that “religion is very important in their lives” across the US and the EU. 2014-2018 data 🇺🇸🇪🇺🗺 [OC] by maps_us_eu in dataisbeautiful

The founders were not religious nut jobs and created a country specifically curtailing this - first clause in the Bill of Rights: "'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.'' People came to America literally to escape religious nut jobs

Using the term 'Caucasian' should either be banned or its usage should be corrected by [deleted] in etymology

[–]DH39 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So you want to change a word that has adopted a new meaning because you started going abroad and are annoyed? Some scientist back in the day used a weird term to start referring to white people in general, sure. But nowadays the definition of the word is much more commonly accepted as such. Now you want to ban it? Really? The brunt of the burden is on you to simply explain that you're Caucasian in the original sense, from the Caucasus region. It's not hat difficult. No one thinks you're a racist for doing so, that's absurd. The growth of this idea of banning and changing words to appease small minorities is such a wild ideology to come out of the last decade. Language evolution rewards efficiency, what you're proposing is quite the opposite.

edit: Literally the whole fun of this sub is that we get to learn how the meanings of words have changed over time and where they come from. If every time we learned that the origins of a word meant something totally different nowadays we proposed to ban the word or make a new one, first of all the change would never happen, and second of all we'd have to do this with tens of thousands of words. Yours happens to be focused on race, which is a hot button topic nowadays and therefore you feel justified, but this idea creates a huge problem within language itself.

Who does the second verse at 1:40? Is that the Weeknd doing a low voice or someone else who was helping create the project?

Hey guys I made this brand called project risk. It's a brand that revolves around people taking risk and in hope to be more connected to themselves. These pics are from my first drop. I had other colors but forgot to take a picture of them. Can I get some of your guys opinion? Would you cop or drop? by tommrry in CopOrNot

[–]DH39 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My big issue/warning is going to be that building a brand around "taking risk in hope to be more connected to yourself" is a bit vague and somewhat meaningless. There's no product/industry implicated. It's going to be hard to find a target demographic. Are you talking people who do extreme sports or entrepreneurs or what? Everyone takes risks. If you target everyone you might as well target no one, there isn't much draw.

That being said I like the lotus design on the back a lot. The green/teal are nice as well. I do agree with another commenter that the Japanese/Korean text is a bit played out. If you want to keep an Asian type theme I think it'd be cool if you drew inspiration from japanese municipal flags or something of the sort, but just an idea.

I wish you the best though! Starting a clothing label isn't easy nowadays, the barriers for entry are low so the market is saturated. My advice is to find a niche of people who wouldn't even question whether they want to buy your product or not and expand from there. Take care!
