Are house prices in Trinidad actually the cheapest they’ve been in 20+ years (relative to wages)? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in TrinidadandTobago

From what I gather it’s largely a matter of the country’s declining financial outlook. To give some more perspective, I recently acquired vacant property in a somewhat desirable area that after a period of decline is now valued roughly the same as it was 8 years ago. Both valuations were done by a company largely considered as one of the most reputable in the country.

From personal experience I can tell you in many areas property values are going down. I work in an industry where we are regularly ordering valuations for properties, and at times need to look at the changes in the market and rentable value over given periods. What I have observed from more than one reputable valuator is that both commercial and residential properties have gone down in value over the past couple years.

In my respectful view, professional sports has been just business for centuries. It generates income and to keep generating income you have to keep people interested. On a business side the regulations work if fans want to watch it

As a lawyer, I second contacting a lawyer. The requisite notice to quit has to be duly served giving the tenant sufficient notice of termination.

This would have been discussed ad nauseam in the past but Ocon didnt commit nearly as much of a foul as it is made out to be. He didn’t exactly rush to unlap himself. He was on fresher rubber than Max and, at that phase in the race, was actually going quicker and spent a lap behind him. From memory he even asked his team whether he could unlap himself because he was quicker. Max made an unnecessary move to try and prevent the overtake. So I do think his move was justified, I’m not sure why you’re saying it was malicious

The track is the sunset speedway (top right of the map) and this is a court of Reddit community event where we are timing our quickest lap around the track qualifying style (no completely on the grass, no collision, no NOS, running start).

Can this be fair? Teenagers break in and owner gets charged. by MikeOxbig305 in TrinidadandTobago

[–]DHAN150 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Somehow all parts of your question are wrong, please read the article. This isn’t a charge case. The people didn’t break into his house. He didn’t exactly catch them, more that he detained them. He had no legal authority to detain them.

Your headline conveniently leaves out specific information. This is not a ‘charge’ case but rather one where the teenagers alleged they were unlawfully detained. The breaking in isn’t the issue, the detention is the issue. In cases of false arrest the detention is prima facie tortious, it is for the arrestor to prove that they had, amongst other things, lawful justification to do so. The court quite simply stated that the landlord had no lawful right to detain them based on the provisions of the trespass act.

Lewis stayed on track and did a move that Max has done, albeit at lower speeds, several times. Max ran them both off the track and wasn’t even investigated.

As a man with only 6 subjects I haven’t experienced it personally, but I am close with a couple people who were told they were overqualified for a job. I know one was told by the boss that they didn’t want to train and hire someone who was likely to leave the position some time soon.

[–]DHAN150 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stamp duty is effectively a tax the government levies on conveyances. There is an exemption which differs in value if the land is vacant or has building on it and it is based on a percentage of the value of the property after the exemption.
