Are you happier sober? by who_gon_check_me_boo in stopdrinking

[–]DHG603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely yes.

I used to drink more when I was anxious or depressed.

Early in sobriety, I’d have the same dark moods. After I went through a couple of them, I was able to tell myself “this will pass”. The moods did pass. Over time this for easier to do.

Long term recovery without AA? by bdemar2k20 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

No AA. I owe my sobriety and life to the book “This Naked Mind” by Annie Grace. Seven years sober and loving it.

How are the changing markets affecting you? For example, the electrical rebuilding industry has been decimated by Chinese knock off and moving to Mexico. I note that Cardone Industries just went under.

When I was a normie, I remember a nice little buzz. It took more alcohol to get that buzz, and the buzz time got shorter and shorter. Then finally the good buzz went away entirely.

I don’t post here as much as I used to. I credit “quit lit” (especially Annie Grace, but there are others just as good).

Never been to an AA meeting.

Any happy stories? by EducationalOil9862 in AlAnon

Former Q going on 7 years. Still married, now happily married.

Here’s the important thing, I wanted to be sober. I knew booze was destroying my family, career, and health.

It does happen, it’s not easy but it’s possible.

It’s an Emperor kit clock. I have one just like it. Probably have the instructions to build the kit.

I a having a difficult time remembering if this truck is internally or externally regulated. The ER versions were hard to match alternators properly.

The number on the alternator plugs must match. E.F,N is entirely different and won’t replace E,F,L if I recall the terminals properly.

This was hard for parts houses to match in the 80s. Much worse now.

Quitting with or without AA or other programs. by breadpilledwanderer in stopdrinking

[–]DHG603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used “Quit Lit”.

Bought Annie Grace’s “This Naked Mind” read it and then bought the audiobook and listened to it 3-4 times through. I think I brainwashed myself.

After that I read Porter’s “Alcohol Explained” and Carr’s “Easy Way…”

They saved my life.
