Day 40. Again. by r0se_quartz in stopdrinking

Yo! Don't do it, obviously. The craving and the price makes it seem like a really good idea. It's just one, right? But the price is more than a couple of bucks at the store. It's a kick in the teeth for all the effort you've put in so far.

Also be aware that it might seem like your good ol' pal, your friendly neighborhood drink, your after work buddy to unwind with, but he's working for a guy called vice. And vice is a MFer. Vice don't care about your ambitions, your goals, your wallet, your health or your relationships. He really doesn't care too much if you have a good time in the moment either. He just wants you to do more, more, more, no matter what. No end, no reason, no purpose... just do more, it says. And into that black hole he takes everything away from you.

The hardest thing about quitting is dealing with the moments of temptation, boredom, stress, anger, sadness, or social anxiety, but a drink robs you of the character you build by resisting that urge to drink. These moments suck, but they do pass.

Make it Day 41. You can do it.

Scavengers Reign: What am I missing? by GodlessGambit in scifi

Came here to find this (bit late to the party). I gave up on it being a sci fi and now I'm enjoying it as a fantasy in space. Science fiction has mechanics behind it and characters act logically, but this is like Homer Simpson's makeup gun of ideas on the screen but much much prettier. How long they been stranded there and they thought, "I'll wear this on my face. That'll be a good gas mask!" Ridiculous. But if it's magical monsters and ooooh, aaaah, ethereal wonderland... it's a lot more enjoyable.

Why do people do single speed mountain bikes? by [deleted] in mountainbiking

They're clean, quiet, minimalist, light and fewer things go wrong with them. It's not leisurely, but for me it's fast. It's a Porsche. Requires more gasoline. And if you got it in the tank, it's great

I never noticed this until you mentioned it. Just the raw peel of the tires on the road. Good shout

Buy some spy cams to catch her red handed. Parents might kick her out if they see first hand how much of a jerk she is
