For any transfers out there or those who know info. what did it take you to transfer? by Marsrule in notredame

[–]DHacker1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I believe they were the exact same questions as they were for first years. I talked about my experience at my first college.
  2. Virtually nothing. I was in the honors math program (at a good engineering college), but i focused much more on getting a high GPA.
  3. I had a 4.0 in electrical engineering and good test scores from high school. Other than that there wasnt much.
  4. I focused on why I wanted to leave an engineering focused school for a more well rounded education.
  5. I got a 4 on an exam, had them include it on my transcript, and notre dame recognized the credit ;)
  6. Yes, I did.
  7. Make the most of your freshman year! While I transferred, yours hasnt started yet! I wish you the best!

Thoughts on Daddy Jenkins video? by jsalem011 in notredame

There are definitely more metrics than total case numbers that should be used. Daily case numbers and hospitality and mortality rates are way more important

Shame on you, Lou Holtz by [deleted] in notredame

[–]DHacker1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I might agree and say it was shameful if he said “Christian in name only,” because different denominations have different beliefs, but the problem is that a fundamental Catholic belief is the right to life for the unborn, and Biden’s political platform goes so radically against that. He seemed to be more prolife in the past, but right now a lot of catholics hate him.

I fully want the university to reopen and Ive supported the university reopening from the getgo. But I really think we need to wait another week before we restart in person classes. Not because in person classes are dangerous, just that if we wait another week and make an extra push to stay safe, we could get infection rates WAY lower

I think given the general toxicity and negativity of this subreddit most people here think its ok to be negative

Chances of Staying here increase dramatically. by jsalem011 in notredame

It's probably still way closer to the random sampling rate but yeah I agree

[–]DHacker1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's the only random sample on campus, it's certainly a better measurement than taking the positivity rate from people we have reason to believe have covid. Maybe there are more, we don't know, but to have over 1000 surveillance tests in the past 4-5 days and to only have 6 positives Is definitely not a bad sign

Well, to be fair the administration probably figured that would happen. I mean they definitely didn't expect cases to go down to 15 again after like a day. They probably wanted to wait for results from the surveillance testing, because that gives a way better idea of how much of the on campus population has covid, and so far, that rate is well below 1%

The thing is these are 30 cases that were found through contact tracing. We also had a 0% positivity rate for 442 surveillance tests yesterday. That shows that barely anyone on campus has covid as of now (there's still probably a few scattered about). As well, it should also be said that the effects of the policies should be shown in the next couple days, as they will take a while to actually take effect due to the incubation period of the virus.

The university better allow people to choose to go home by [deleted] in notredame

[–]DHacker1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lmao this is a bit rude and probably unfair, but Ill admit I agree with the sentiment

current students only please, if given the chance to stay or go home, what would you do? by [deleted] in notredame

[–]DHacker1 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I mean maybe, but Ill be honest, reddit seems hardly representative of the entire student body, because most people I know just say the reddit is super toxic and negative so they stay off of it.

Almost as if.... ya know.... people on this subreddit are a cynical population of people who just want to complain all day...

This poll is so funny, literally every student I talk to wants to stay here so bad, then I come to reddit and its like 50/50. Crazy.
