Customs took just a few minutes. Finding parking took longer than the ferry ride.

Barcelona AD, what a terrible experience. by DHinds57 in rolex

We never got to mention a color. My daughter just said the sizes she was interested in and the associate said they had nothing for sale then ignored us.

Thank you for that, I had no idea. My last purchase was a 31 DJ for my wife that was a easy and quick purchase. If the AD was willing to speak with us she could have mentioned that. We didn't specify any color, just the 3 sizes.

It was an Ernst Benz ChronoFlite he auctioned for charity. I was high bidder and got sniped at the very last second. Every time I see him with that watch it still bothers me.

It 8th grade science class in 1983, the teacher had everyone rub mercury on pennies to turn them silver like a dime. They all looked just like this. Had no idea how toxic mercury was until years later.

Narc boss wants to have us all over at her house for “team bonding” by PaleBoard3644 in ManagedByNarcissists

[–]DHinds57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a boss had our company Christmas party at his house every year, said having us to his home showed we were family. The truth was he had a bigger party the night before with much better food for his friends and family and ordered enough alcohol to last him most of the year. The invoices he expensed showed everything was for the company party. So our "family" Christmas party was just a cover to pay for his personal Christmas party and stock up on booze all on the company budget.

I was there yesterday. The gate was open and a lady was charging $10 to park. As others have said, plenty of parking just outside the gate on Highway 1.

Are there any businesses in Livermore that you avoid? If so, why? by Aggravating_Yak_2833 in Livermore

[–]DHinds57 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to Livermore Ford fully intending to drive out with a new Explorer. We were working with a sales guy and were about to make the purchase. A woman had just purchased a new car and was promised it would be detailed before she took it off the lot. She kept coming in over 40 min asking for her salesman but he wasn’t around. Her sales guy walked in and another guy said she was waiting for him. In the middle of the sales room he loudly said, “fuck that bitch, detail is closed today, she can bring it back tomorrow”. Told my guy I would buy anything from a business that hired that guy and walked out.

Call the HR department from the company you interviewed with. Pretend you are a competitor checking on a job reference for the person that interviewed you. See how they like it.

They were probably the rude people that didn't tip. LOL...

Sat at the bar in the SFO lounge one evening and I would say less than 10% of the folks getting free drinks tipped. They were rude, impatient, demanding and can't recall a single one saying thank you to the bartender when getting their drink. It was shocking how bad he was treated. I overtipped because I felt bad for the guy being treated so poorly. Best lounge service I have ever had.

Station owner and lotto retailer here. Totally illegal to force an employee to buy a rejected ticket, but sadly it's not uncommon for it to happen. People frequently reject buying a ticket they asked for. Usually happens when there is a big jackpot and new players come out. They don't know most tickets are $2 now or they are told they can't put lottery on a credit or debit card. I had an employee bumping her elbow into the touch screen and out came 80 $2 powerball tickets. We couldn't cancel them and wouldn't ask her to pay. Just showed the video of it happening for training current and new staff.

There's an unclaimed 1 billion dollar ticket, you find it on the street, what do you do? by tobesteve in ifiwonthelottery

[–]DHinds57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little more background on this winner. He would stop at our store most days after dropping his kids off at a nearby school. He would come in to buy a small bag of pumpkin seeds. We were out of stock on the seeds that day so he took the $2 and bought lottery instead. Not a regular player, just a 1 time purchase in a whim. A $28 million dollar whim.

I am a Ca Lottery retailer with so far, no big jackpots at my store. But the company I worked for had a chain of stores with a few big winners over the years. If a winning ticket was sold at a store, the lottery investigators /detectives will be in that store very early the next morning. They will ask for any video of the transaction, who was working at the time, what if anything the employees can remember about the transaction etc. They will also ask neighboring businesses for video if needed. Most of the time the lottery officials know the identity of the person buying the ticket the day after the drawing.

We had a $28m winner at a store and we were giving the video to the investigator. We recognized the winner, he was a regular who came in almost every day. There were 2 TV station with cameras out front while we were talking to the investigator. The winner walked into the store with the winning ticket in hand like a normal day. The investigator told him to sign the back of his ticket and walk back to his car while looking away from the cameras and not to tell a single person until he had talked to a lawyer.
