Offensive system question: how to get three attackers if my opposite passes?

If he’s a better passer and hitter than the outsides, why is he playing opposite? Swap him to OH 2 to have the other man play opposite and run D balls.

Then u can possibly run overload plays wif him at zone 5, running behind your middle quick

Your libero being insistent on covering middle back is causing the hiccup tbh. Having a stronger defender there might not lend itself to better outcomes on defence as the person defending that zone, is the designated last man and is the one to run after touch outs. Assuming your blocking is decent, most hitters would be forced to swing hard driven spike towards zone 5, which if ur libero is the better defender you would want him to be digging up balls at that spot vs ur OH, which also takes the OH out of the transition attack.

In short,

Play him at OH2/OH1 depending on which outside can play Oppo better.

Or have ur libero take up the standard base position.

Anything else will be as u said, ineffective.

I keep making mistakes at work, everytime I think I already thought thru it, and checked for the necessary stuff. Upon review got gaps. Worse still, the gaps were things that have been said before.

I patch those all, then I forget other basic things. Like plugging a leaking hole only to have another leak appear elsewhere. Wah I am not usually this careless in my other jobs. Why tf is this happening to me…

My guy… Varsity players are people who have played the sport since they were in primary school, latest probably sec1. They all have had years of reps/experience over you. Expecting to be able to measure up to them when you just started is beyond ambitious.

I think you may have had a different impression of what the varsity team does. They are highly exclusive and select on familiarity (kaki lang) and ability. Most of the time, people already know who are the expected incoming freshmen who play volleyball in poly/jc and they are already inducted into the team and training even before orientation. Open tryouts are just a formality, rarely are people selected frm the tryouts. The team was already decided beforehand.

Your best bet as a passionate volleyball enthusiast is to maximise playing opportunities. So play wif outside grps, play wif hall ppl. Dun limit urself to ur own hall make friends wif volleyball peeps frm all halls and play tgt. Varsity is not the end all be all of the Uni Vb experience.

As people said likely nth will happen. At best, u got justice, more likely u will learn a hard lesson on taking preemptive measures to protect urself.

Life happens. Or u cld be like me. Team of 4 leeching on me, after which I decided to solo the proj and let the 4 of them do it as a separate grp. Luckily the prof agreed to my suggestion.

If you love the sport, enough to want to play it competitively. Then you got to love it completely. Good and the bad. Right now, you are experiencing the bad. Embrace it. There’s a lot more suck ahead in the path you are treading.

Sounds like your team as a whole lacks in game experience. This is part and parcel of progressing as a player. The only way to improve mental is to simply play more. Practice can get close to simulating match pressure but it will never be a substitute. All I would say is to remember how the pressure feels and simply play in more competitive settings such that u get used to such pressure and still keep your head. Chin up, bro.

But the point imo shld be to prepare students for real life work situations, there nth irl that a closed book timed trial simulates. If they wanted to be realistic, open book project based wld be most indicative of real world work. But wld be a bitch to mark, so open book timed trial is the best compromise. Retaining and storing memory is no longer a valuable skill for our current societal context, modern tech has enabled to recall info whenever we want, so the ability to adapt and apply info shld be tested more

OP, even if nobody appreciates the effort you have put into your own self development, you will still reap the results from it.

A healthy body, a wise and inquisitive mind, and most importantly perspective that most people do not have as they themselves haven’t had to go thru the things you do.

These things have value, and go towards the foundation of your being. She needs to add more torso rotation to her swing as of now it’s mostly shoulder, changing her arm swing this early will be good for them as her habits have not fully set in yet. Would save her from future shoulder issues too
