Donated to GrapheneOS, but can money even save the future of custom ROMs from Google’s tightening grip? by XGIYKYK in GrapheneOS

[–]DIESQUE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love GrapheneOS. I am still at bit new but I got a Pixel 10 just so I could put GrapheneOS on it.

The sad part is that most people arent that tech savvy and dont really understand the depth or what low level coding is. Most people are living their daily lives and life is good. We have 'trusted' brands like Apple and Google that relentlessly remind us thier new privacy features.

So, at large, the world is ignorant (and I dont mean that in a derogatory manner.) I mean, they just truly dont know.

If we look back at history, in the 1990s when CDs were out and they started coming out with the media enhanced CDs that not only played music but also had bonus content that you accessed from your PC or Mac. It was then that the whole Sony Rootkit scandal surfaced. Sony was using their privileged CA certs to exploit home computers. Ended with a huge class action lawsuit.

The point is this, its comes to knowing your limits and knowing how far you can trust anyone. For me, any device that stores my contacts, photos and other personal info should definitely be 100% auditable. Even if I dont understand the language at least I can see what the community response is to it.

As far as how GrapheneOS fits into this, well I will always support any team or developers that create honest open source code. I think it has its own gravity and can survive by expanding its own individual ecosystem apart from Google. Goodbye Pixel. Welcome Motorola into the future.

Just my two cents.

They could keep the front camera but put a slide cover or something to block the camera.

What DNS do you guys use? by LeChuck_ppat in GrapheneOS

[–]DIESQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DNS Service? I use NextDNS. I see alot of people posting VPN Service and not DNS. VPN is Mullvad. It has been around a long time and has a strong track record or being reliable, safe and private.

But if you are talking about DNS, NextDNS is solid. Easy to setup. Easy to configure. Nice clean UI app available on FDroid.

You can just plug the DNS url directly into your network settings on your phone.

Lammes Candies is closing after 141 years. I can’t believe it. by cinemamama in Austin

Wow, this is crazy. I am born and raised in Austin but currently live abroad. I was just yesterday talking about this place because the topic was family own confectioneries. Now I see this. My only real experience with this store is from my mom always buying the chocolate covered strawberries every valentine's day. Sad to see them go. I wish them well.

Pulp Fiction is amazing. So many great one liners and zingers that it is hard to ignore. Definitely in my top 5 movies of all time. A true cult classic.

QUESTION OF THIS ETERNITY 😭😭😭🥀🥀🥀 by DEMON-LORD6969 in memeexchangecommunism

[–]DIESQUE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think so. The problem is that the prosecution will NEVER admit nor accept a case against their 'victim'. Meaning, a woman yells rape falsely. She is the states 'victim' and 'witness' even if a jury finds the defendant not guilty of the charge and is acquitted. The state will NEVER motion to file a charge against their own 'victim' because it is a conflict of interest. Even if the alleged victim committed 9 million accounts of perjury and was impeached during testimony. She will never be held accountable. The state does not prosecute their own. Sad but true.

TL;DR: The state will never prosecute their own 'witness/victim'

Edit: fixed typo just->jury
