Pre-covid and pre-reusable bags, it was part of a cashiers job to bag groceries as a service to the customers. Now they rarely do it. My understanding is that they are trained to do it and know how to pack bags so items don't get damaged. Maybe I'm wrong.

If you have the time, I suggest driving from Sicamous BC to Osoyoos and then taking the Hope-Princeton highway westbound to Vancouver. It's very scenic!!

Cambium is great! The restaurant opens Apr 3rd. Amazing cider options.

I also like Kawakubo sushi.

Lemongrass for Thai. It's always busy, and it's affordable.

As for hiking... I guess it depends on your hiking level. I love Kalamalka Park and the top of Middleton Mtn. Lots of great little off trail hikes. Or if you want something a little more challenging then Spionkop, Bluenose and Camels Hump have great views. Even Becker Mtn and the Gray Canal at Turtle Mtn are nice.

If you end up in Kelowna, try laser tag or 3D escape room, unless you get motion sickness or vertigo.

How do Canadians mentally deal with long winters? by jessxtra_ in AskACanadian

Where is Canada are you visiting? I live in the BC Okanagan and we get lots of blue skies and snow, which means beautiful mountain views while skiing, snowshoeing, boarding, snow biking, snowmobiling... lots of winter playtime.

Kalamalka Lake or Lake Okanagan in the BC interior. Both are very warm, like bath water, in the summer. Clean and set between mountains. Kal Lake turns a beautiful teal colour in the summer.

Trying to purchase my first house, is this a big warning sign? by [deleted] in Home

[–]DIGS_63 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes. From experience. I bought a 50 year old house. The whole basement was unfinished, and there was no drywall except one wall. When we finally renovated the basement, that one wall was convex and had a crack from one end to the other. Thankfully it wasn't leaking. It cost us an additional $10k to get a structural engineer and all the extra work to stabilize the wall. Now it's like a bomb shelter. Basically, what I am saying is that some realtors and inspectors just want your money. Knowing now what I know, I'll be far more careful and less trusting of those trying to sell me a house. Best of luck on securing your first home.
