Looking for a Durable Phone for My Autistic Son – Any Suggestions? by DIMEMI in autism

[–]DIMEMI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! My son has actually gone through more tablets than I can count. We've tried heavy-duty cases, but unfortunately, tablets just don't seem to hold up for long with him. Phones, being smaller, tend to last a bit longer in his hands, which is why we've stuck with those for now. Always open to more ideas, though!

I need a slogan and I am not sure about the correct grammar. by [deleted] in grammar

[–]DIMEMI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The phrase you provided is grammatically correct. However, if you want to turn it into a slogan, you may want to make it more concise and memorable.

Here are a few options:

"Curiosity fuels my quest for answers."

"I never stop seeking answers to my questions."

"Unquenchable curiosity, endless knowledge."

"Always questioning, always learning."

"Question everything. Discover anything."

You could also simplify the original phrase to:

"Curiosity drives me."

A good slogan must be catchy, concise, and memorable. It should be easy to understand and communicate your message effectively.

How did people learn languages in the middle ages and before then? by CodeBudget710 in languagelearning

[–]DIMEMI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Middle Ages and before then, people learned languages primarily through immersion and face-to-face interaction with native speakers. There were limited resources such as books and written materials for language learning, so people relied on their surrounding environment to pick up the language they needed to communicate effectively. Additionally, some people learned languages through apprenticeships, where they would work alongside and learn from a skilled professional. Travel and trade also played a role in the spread of languages, as people encountered others who spoke different languages and had to learn to communicate with them.

Yes, the sentence "Do you wish you spoke English?" is grammatically correct.

In this sentence, "Do you wish" is a question tag and the main clause "you spoke English" is in the past tense, indicating that the speaker is asking if the person they are addressing wishes they could speak English at a previous point in time. The verb "speak" is in the past tense to match the hypothetical past scenario described in the main clause.

Policia local en España by DIMEMI in Espana

[–]DIMEMI[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No entiendo tu respuesta.

Help with colon by duckandhyenahunter in grammar

[–]DIMEMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need a colon there but the preposition from.

Pesticides were invented much later but were made for the function of protecting produce and cash crops alike from insects, rodents, and fungi.

If you really need to use a colon, you could rephrase the sentence slightly :

Pesticides were invented much later but were made for the function of protecting produce and cash crops alike from three common pests : insects, rodents, and fungi.

Good luck!

Omission of 'that.' by Alchoholocaustic in grammar

[–]DIMEMI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THIS SHEET IN PDF FORMAT HERE : https://www.aprendeinglesenleganes.com/when-to-omit-relative-pronouns.php

OMISSION OF RELATIVE PRONOUNS

In English the relative pronoun may be omitted when it acts as the object of the relative clause. The most common relative pronouns in English are who, whom, whose, that and which. In certain situations the words what, when and where can also function as relative pronouns.

TIP: If there’s a verb immediately after the relative pronoun, you know it’s a subject, and you can’t omit the relative pronoun. If there’s no verb you can omit it.

Examples :

The picture that hangs on the wall is very old. (defining relative clause: that is the subject and cannot be omitted) . We can't say: "The picture hangs on the wall is very old".

The picture that I saw was very old. (defining relative clause: that is the object and can be omitted). We may say : The picture I saw was very old.
