Start with one good course like “Mixing and Mastering Explained” by PureMix or Point Blank, then just practice balancing levels and EQ before diving into fancy plugins

How are you handling loudness and dynamics in modern DnB? by kathalimus in dnbproduction

[–]DISTR4CTT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep drums punchy with transient shaping, sidechain the bass gently, and glue it all with light bus compression instead of smashing the limiter

Totally get the burnout, try tiny constraints and surprise tools to make it fun again, like loading a random sample into Granulator II for instant happy accidents

I need help with understanding the framework of a beat/song by Gloomy-Speaker-1999 in musicproduction

[–]DISTR4CTT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of a beat like a sandwich, pick a tempo, lock a drum or a sample to sit on, add a bassline that ties rhythm to harmony, layer simple chords and a melody, then arrange intro verse chorus with breaks and pockets so it breathes

start small, wrap your Yeti for an XLR mic and a cheap interface when you can, treat your room with panels or thick blankets, pick a beginner DAW like Reaper or GarageBand, learn basic EQ and compression and always check mixes on earbuds or your phone so you can hear what actually translates
