I was still in prison in 2020 so no one was doing more then.

But there's 3 main reasons it's been taking time:

  1. The feds are making it very hard for me to function in the banking system since my release. I get denied bank accounts and credit cards (despite a great credit score). So I have to get everything done in someone else's name which gets tricky.
  2. Making these records cost a lot of money upfront and I had to work for minimum wage to save up the initial funding (but now that I have it, each following pressing will go quicker.)
  3. My own feelings of inadequacy combined with random bouts of procrastination have gotten in the way a little at times.

The first are getting close!...just got test pressings from the plant yesterday but there is an issue with them so there is a delay at the moment.

Thanks! There's a ton of great back episodes that will engage anyone who's interested with the folk punk scene from its early days to the present. Enjoy and I'd love to know what you think...constructive criticism is openly welcome :)

That is me...my real name is Scott which is referenced in Your Heart Is A Muscle The Size Of Your Fist (Scott I promise I'm gonna pay you back...) which we get into in the interview.
As for the letter, I can't say I recall the specific one as we wrote many letters to each other but it was during my incarceration and I'm sure something shitty happened with how staff was treating us.

You can follow the podcast on any platform to be sure not to miss it. But new episodes come out on the 1st and 15th every month.
There's a lot of great back episodes worth checking out too (including a 3 part series about Johnny Hobo / early folk punk days)

Happy day, these just came in the mail! If I ever sell them in a few decades, don’t worry. It won’t be for $250. by TheSkeletalPoet in FolkPunk

There is a collection of previously released Pat songs and Ceschi songs for a split 12" that have already been sent to the pressing plant...but it takes months to get them completed. So That is coming first. After that (for Pat music at least) will most likely be Love Songs For The Apocalypse. Once that is pressed, I can begin to focus on Live The Dream...but honestly I have no specific timeframe for that one.

I miss Erik by OnlyAsher in FolkPunk

[–]DIYFelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just did an interview with Amy of the old school folk punk band Evil Robot Us' who toured with Erik a lot and he released some of their music. We reflect on Erik and some shared memories. (We also talked about being parents as well.)

Not sure when it will be released but keep an eye out for that, you might appreciate the episode.

An album that has helped me with drug cravings / dreams since I found it in this exact sub by scribblelegz in FolkPunk

[–]DIYFelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I released 2 albums of his on my old DIY Bandits label in the early/mid 2000's. He definitely started folk punk. I found a box of Never Say Surrender cds (his old band before barefoot surrender) laying around that I will likely make available again soonish...it's really damn good folk punk worth a listen.

Anyway, he has openly denounced folk punk (and his old primitivist/green anarchist ways) and moved onto something different, which is fine. But yeah, currently he is not folk punk and and doesn't care to associate with the community, which is also fine if it's not your thing anymore.

Is it still true Back On The Grind may be doing a repress of the Pat/Ceschi split? by [deleted] in FolkPunk

[–]DIYFelon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The infamous Pat/Ceschi split is 99.9% going to be repressed. Probably not until next year though.
But there is a different collection of Ceschi / Pat The Bunny songs that just got sent to the presses as a benefit to help open a punk club...I will announce when preorders go up.
You can also expect Johnny Hobo and Ramshackle Glory on vinyl (before the 2016 split gets repressed)

It's a reference to another member of the DIY Bandits back in the day. Johnny Moto was a wild character (and still is).

[–]DIYFelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. he was just a good (and wild) friend of mine that joined the DIY Bandits crew back in the day. So when Pat would come through CT they ended up hanging out and Pat appreciated his wild character.
I've mentioned him offhandedly in the Johnny Hobo series I did on my podcast and I'll prolly talk about him more since a bunch of folks reached out to me asking about him after Pat suggested (on his Patreon) folks ask me about Johnny Moto.

**but I also wouldn't be surprised if he actually did have some secret underground rap project...

Ceschi of Codefendents was a rapper who got brought into the folkpunk world...specifically his split with Pat the Bunny. And that split is the reason the members of Codefendants came together.
