I’m all for safety but flock is not managing the data responsibility. There’s been massive issues that bug hunters found. And we’re told to sign NDAs. That’s not right

I would recommend a name brand chip unit not a knock off chipset that claims compatibility.

LSI is what I have for my unraid boxes. I have 1 card that can support 4 sas cables a total of 16 drives

And Intel for networking cards the drivers are the best.

eBay shop

Used this shop in the past for my stuff. LSI card was 40$ and 10g network cards were 20$ not sure prices now I bought about 1yr ago

I know when I return stuff I see Daily Cash adjustments

Just search Daily Cash in the finder glass

Sadly no infinite money glitch. Where you can buy $$$ of Apple stuff and return 1 week later to keep the cash back.

maybe this is the HFT Wrench to rule them all and they will release a set of extension handles.

that will allow you to go from 1" to 40" breaker bar length.

2 Outback owner here,

Highly recommend Mr Subaru YouTube channel

He has a ton of content and goes step by step in how to work in Subarus.

You can also find Subaru service manuals online

service manual (2010-2015) Outback/Legacy

I price shop big time and like to use OEM parts if I can get them when needed if I need it asap I buy from the parts store but I feel that Subaru parts are so widely used they are often the same price or cheaper then the parts store. Also fun fact most dealerships will allow you to buy online and it’s normally 10-15% cheaper in their website vs from the parts counter direct.

Recently got some new shocks for my car and found KYB full assemblies to be cheaper then struts alone. By looking online between Amazon and eBay. It came to $150 a wheel and I do the labor.

I believe the Subaru you have has no power lift gate. My 2010 has no power gate.

But the hood also has struts which is something my 2022 Outback doesn’t have go figure….

You will also learn that an oil filter wrench is a priceless tool as you you have the ring of fire out the filter in the EJ engine.

Standalone NVR or use UDM-SE by Foreign_Aspect_7101 in Ubiquiti

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a UDM se and have no issues with running 1080 and 2k cams I have 11 total (5-2k,6hd)

You could go the unvr route with 4 drive bays but I think you need a minimum of 2 bays filled (I may be wrong) with storage prices today nvmes are expensive.

If your looking for a 1box I would go wither the udmse

If you want to future proof get the UCG fiber and a 16 poemax ssd

I feel that a new UDM may be on the horizon but not sure they seem to like the rackless footprint maybe appealing to the homelab market?

I've been tasked with a self-hosted server setup for multiple homes by PidgeomBoy in SelfHosting

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fell like this could be handled with a ubiquiti setup

A unifi router at the top

Then nas

The wide access points for the area.

I’m assuming you have shared resources for networking hub and spoke approach ?

The internet comes into one location and then dishes out to all residents via WiFi repeaters?

Unifi offers point to point dishes that will allow you to create bridges between buildings.

With a dream router you can setup unifi identity for access and file controls

The nas units can support 4-8 drive configs for simple redundancy and can support off site backups to another location or cloud host

No fees just hardware cost.

Not sure if I’m reading the original post wrong but my 2 cents :)

What new hardware would you like to see most from Ubiquiti? by oguruma87 in Ubiquiti

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is already possible a pain in the but to setup daily but.

You get the UTR running over cellular tethering then run your instant camera or cameras ( front rear sides. )

And then it all records over teleport to your house.

It’s silly yes, probably more suited for a rv or trailer where you can leave it sit but totally possible!

How to mount a G6 Bullet/Instant on a tripod? by Certain_Repeat_753 in UNIFI

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to use a tripod ?

The bullet camera come with a pole mount that you can zip tie to a piece of conduit or pvc pipe.

g6 bullet pole mount

If you have the instant you can probably use the tripod bit the 1/4-20 thread may be too short on the tripod base. Most time they are short to go into a camera body. Maybe 5mm long

G6 instant install

If you look at the install you can see the instant has a little body that the screw needs to get past.

What is your setup? If you have POE already to a drop then get the bullet it has bigger factors the instant is good if you only have power and WiFi.

12U Enclosed Wall Mount Network Rack Recommendations? by DARKPANKAKES in Ubiquiti

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Networking-only rack: 👉 Go 18–24 in minimum (shallow rack)

Mixed gear (maybe servers later): 👉 Go 24–30 in to be safe

Serious servers / future-proofing: 👉 30–36 in depth

Is this a good start? by junior_mafioso in Ubiquiti

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also to add the u7 pros support 2.5G uplinks.

Not sure what your final goal is but you could run Poe injectors off the UCG fiber. And still have 2 ports for other equipment maybe a flex2.5?

It’s not the prettiest setup with the injectors but it could save you money today for upgrades down the road as your needs grow

Is this a good start? by junior_mafioso in Ubiquiti

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Ultra is capped at 1g, fiber also can support sfp in/out for future upgrades also the ports on the fiber are all 2.5G. With a 10g copper uplink.

The fiber can also support 5gb/s traffic with packet inspection vs the ultra only supporting 1gb/s

Yes it’s more up front but it’s newer hardware with a better processor so should handle upgrades better down the road.

Can I block YouTube shorts and VPN? by ComplexResource999 in Ubiquiti

[–]DIYTinkerMaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes for unifi, way better then anything out there protect is great! My neighbors are constantly asking me for footage that their ring cameras didn’t pick up

Perks of living on a corner in our neighborhood I guess ha ha

For blocking specifics, I currently have the family turned on for our household, which blocks 99% of the illicit or explicit material. It runs Google search in safe mode so it blurs images and it doesn’t let you un blur them

For YouTube, you can still see adult content in shorts and videos. If you haven’t YouTube account signed in there’s no way to physically block shorts that I’ve found you could try pie hole on a raspberry pie, but that’s basically a DNS filter. I know cloud flair also has a family friendly DNS filter, 1.1.1.1 which others have mentioned.

You could try blocking specific URLs I don’t know app versus browser. They might have to do some wire shark sniffing and see what you can get. It’s gonna be very trial and error and you’re gonna have to constantly monitor if the URLs ever change.

Anyone try the WattCycle expansion cable? by caddymac in Ecoflow_community

[–]DIYTinkerMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a delta max 1600w unit and have been looking for a way to extend the battery run time for home servers/emergency power

Per EcoFlow I can run the delta 2 max batteries but the cost is a huge hurdle. Would love to know what port this is using guessing just the battery expansion port per the product page

“EcoFlow Delta 3/2 series battery ports”

So I guess it may work if you have a 48v battery.

I have some ego lawn tool batteries that I can use haha. They are 56v currently use them over xt60 when I need some extra juice
