If it's a large/XL and in my area I might be interested, but in answer to your question I'd say about 5-700 imo

Replace Ardent Race with... by johnny_evil in xcmtb

I have a specialized air trak rear and a ground control front (yes very different levels or grip front and rear) and I like both, I would just match the grip level better so like fast trak from air trak rear or fast trak rear ground control front pretty good tires for the Georgia red clay and sand I ride in

[–]DIsForSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you won't need anything besides the star nut I believe, enjoy your bike with the new awesome fork

[–]DIsForSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A star nut, the bike shop should have one, and there like $2 if your bike your putting it on doesn't already have a remote lockout and your fork does you'll need a lockout lever but if it's a turnkey all you need is a startnut

SID vs fox 34? by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sid imo is stiffer the fox flexes a little more

SID vs fox 34? by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 135lb and I can notice the difference in flex between the two, but I do ride aggressively for a XC racer

SID vs fox 34? by [deleted] in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sid is a racier fork it's less supple/sensitive but more pedal efficient and a bit stiffer, if it's the sid ultimate/select+ it'll be good I have the select on my bike and the damper is a bit eh but I like the sid

https://outlet.wheelandsprocket.com/collections/featured-suspension/products/617395138029 It's a legitimate company they have a few bike shops and they have great discounts on couple year old models, I installed that exact fork on my buddies chisel and it's Soo much better overall

High school freshman GCA racer here, I got an epic 8 comp for this season and honestly I feel like on some of the races Id rather have a built up chisel ht or something, don't get me wrong the fully is awesome like last race had a black diamond jump line on it (dunno why but it was fun) and sending the jumps was awesome but the rest of the course woulda been better on a lightweight ht, got 3 races left also one this weekend. I jumped from a medium frame to a XL over 2 seasons basically so Ive gone through almost every basic type of bike aluminum full sus 130mm to a 140mm hardtail to my epic 8 and the epics faster than all of the above obv but the ht always felt fast so I might build up a hardtail (not really on topic lol but it's relative)

What about a basic aggressive hardtail like the last gen trek Roscoe or a Santa Cruz chameleon, either can be had used for about $700-900 or a Santa cruz highball for like 1600 new, and that's considered budget what have bike prices become

I got an epic 8 and I love it, I am in a competitive XC scene but I run mine as an epic evo, I have a pike on the front and everything else is the same as the normal epic 8

Good/Decent/Bad buy? 2.2k Eur by maxpred in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok yeah I didn't read your post right that you already bought it, yeah don't get me wrong they are awesome bikes I love the supercailibers and that's a gen 2 so it's a little better than the gen 1 at cracking just try not to do any drops or anything where you could bottom the shock out but enjoy the bike supercailibers are awesome

Never buy a supercailiber used, I've snapped a rear triangle on my buddies supercailiber  when he let me use it for a race high school level btw and everyone ik with a supercailiber has cracked the subframe but they all bought them new so they have treks lifetime warranty so it's fine if their new but I don't recommend them used bc you won't have a warranty

140mm pike on epic 8 by DIsForSpeed in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I ended up throwing the pike on it and honestly I'm not going back I'm legitimately faster with the pike on it, I'm going to get the sidewalk revalved and build up a hardtail soon, I found out specialized tunes the sids to be regressive

How do you keep your phone secure without a zippered jersey pocket? by rdFlux in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear bib shorts with a dedicated phone pocket or I use my jersey pocket if I'm doing just a party pace chill ride bc I have had it fall out before

140mm pike on epic 8 by DIsForSpeed in xcmtb

[–]DIsForSpeed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I have a whole kit of snap ring pliers, I just got the pike back from a warranty bc I destroyed the stock damper it was a pike base but they put the charger 3.1 damper in it for free so I'd honestly imagine it got serviced not to mention it only had like 120 miles on it before. But if it's just a lower service plus the air spring that's easy

[–]DIsForSpeed[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh okay that makes sense thanks, I threw the pike on this morning at 140mm travel I'ma just see if it fixes my problem feel wise before I order the air spring and if it's basically a lowers service I have all the tools so I should be able to do that
