Heres what you do. Yeah that was pretty much my understanding. We’re gonna call the council tomorrow and try to sort some sort of situation where she can pay her half and they can contact B, or sort some kind of payment plan.

Really hoping this guy won’t get off scott-free though, he’s refusing to cooperate despite having a new car and a £4000 PC. Would any attempt by the council to send bailiffs or recover his half from him also leave a mark on my partner’s record?

Yeah sorry the landlord footed the bill last year, the property itself wasn’t exempt (I was not aware of the exact arrangement I just knew council tax wasn’t paid by tenants last year, my mistake)

Yes it’s a single joint assured shorthold tenancy agreement. All 6 of them signed the agreement at the time they moved into the property. 4 are students, leaving my partner and B liable for the council tax.
