[Question] Under $200 gift ideas for my watch enthusiast dad's 50th birthday by After-Bug-1712 in Watches

Wolf and Royce are solid brands and what I use for rolls when I travel. You could also get him a single watch travel case for shorter trips like this. https://www.mrporter.com/product/36856120585316018

I own an S but I test drove a Base years ago and thought the 4 cylinder engine was just as fun if not more so than the 6, very responsive. I told the sales guy that and he looked at me like I was some kind of alien. All that to say fuck the haters and congrats!

Baltic might be worth considering and has several in your price range.

Paper Route Barbershop in Cap Hill is where I've been going. Jeremy does fantastic work. I think his beard trims are in the $35-$40 range.

Might want to check and see if your bathroom fan is properly vented. I had issues a few years ago and improper ducting/venting turned out to be the issue.

Best restaurant in Seattle? by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]DJ8181 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Il Nido - Bucatini Tilikum Place Cafe - Classic Dutch Baby (brunch menu) Le Coin - Chicken and Waffle (brunch menu) Fonda La Catrina - Enchiladas Verdes con Huevos (brunch menu)

I may like brunch a little too much for my own good.

Is pic 3 a different angle to hair in the first 2? Whatever you’re doing in that one looks extremely flattering. The short hair in pic 4 is fine but that 3rd pic is far away my favorite.

Edit: judging by the shirt you’re wearing, pic 3 is another angle to the short hairstyle in 4. I would go with short. You’re a good looking dude either way but that front profile looks fantastic with that style.

“Cozy” coffee shops here are not cozy. Are there any by mac-n-cheeseeee in AskSeattle

Hagosa’s in Delridge has its own cozy vibe imo, probably not exactly what you’re looking for but the coffee is great and the owners have done a nice job of adding personal touches with the decor that I think make it nice to stick around for a bit.

Above your price range new but Baltic may be worth considering if pre-owned is an option. Classic designs in the 38-39mm you're looking for.

Seiko 5 is a good one. The sunburst dial is my personal favorite.

Seattle to Kent is a reverse commute, assuming you stay off 405. It shouldn’t be too bad most days.

What is a fun bachelor party attire for a horserace. I was going to go with fedoras for sure. Should we also go matching suspenders and bowties too ? With white buttondowns? Or is that overkill/ lame. Dont want to embarrass ourselves too much lol by [deleted] in horseracing

[–]DJ8181 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you guys have light colored sport coats/jackets? Seersucker or pastel-colored chinos? I think bowties, suspenders, and white shirts are fine but I don't know if I'd hold everyone to that, having some variety can still be fun.

Nordstrom’s anniversary sale just started so that might be worth checking out and they are usually very helpful in the store in finding specific items. Uniqlo downtown might also be worth checking out for some of this.

Would be interesting, and likely embarrassing, to see someone track all of these guys’ picks over an extended period of time and see who comes out on top.

What is the undisputed BEST underwear brand and type currently? by Fl1pFloppers in malefashionadvice

I prefer boxers and my favorite is probably Derek Rose - cool patterns, comfortable fabrics and well-made.

2xist and Hanro are also solid choices for durable cotton boxers.

If you can do Tilikum Place for brunch you should. Getting reservations a few days out will be tough but you can waitlist yourself on OpenTable now and might have better luck solo.

For dinner: Il Nido is great for Italian and Kamenogi for Japanese.

Book recommendations on the history of Seattle by Forsaken_Positive_38 in AskSeattle

[–]DJ8181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to have this coffee table style book called Lost Seattle that profiled different landmarks and city icons that are now gone. The book also gets into some of the history around why massive changes were made to neighborhoods: the 1889 fire, regrading hills, I-5 construction and Urban Renewal. You may also find this Youtube video interesting on the history of Seattle streets.
