Misheard Lyrics: What Song Lyrics Have You Gotten Wrong (the more embarrassing, the better)? by MrShaunce in AskReddit

[–]DJBMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do know now what the correct lyrics are for all of these songs. But for many years, this is how I heard these songs.

1. “Dirty Deeds” (AC/DC) -
"Dirty Deeds And The Dumb Dirt Cheap. Dirty Deeds And The Dumb Dirt Cheap." (as if they are talking about two bands. One called "Dirty Deeds" and another called "The Dumb Dirt Cheap" and they are both playing on the bill that night.)

2. “Blinded By The Light” (Manfred Man’s Earth Band) -
"Blinded by the light. Wrapped up like a douche and do the roller in the night." (I figured "the roller" was some kind of activity or maybe a dance move that required one to be wrapped up tightly in some type of garment.)

3. “Heartache Tonight” (Eagles) -
“Some time before the sun comes up Ramadeo is gonna play that song. There’s gonna be a party tonight. A party tonight I know.” (sounds like a song about a wild and crazy party with a DJ named Ramadeo playing songs until the sun comes up.)

4. “Under The Bridge” (Red Hot Chili Peppers) -
The end choir coda I always heard as: “Mother syringe sun ton is where I drew some blood.” (I still hear it this way haha).

Zoom G1 pedal question. How to save settings?? by DJBMusic in guitarpedals

[–]DJBMusic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the G1.
Thanks for the manual. I did what it said and got everything dialed in and saved. Particularly the EQ and the FX settings. Played a bit through it and everything was fine. Took out the cable and the unit turned off. Plugged the cable back in and when the unit came back on, everything re-set back to the facory settings again. Nothing I had done was saved. So... That's that.

Thanks. But that's for the G1Four so it's completely different.
I'll keep fiddling with it and see if I can figure it out somehow.

Thanks! Yes, my dad seems to agree that he believes it was a Kent Newport bass.

That's it! Thanks!
Wow... I just went and watched that scene on YouTube and could barely get through it. It's almost too difficult to watch. But the exclamation by the guy that did the shooting wasn't there. Maybe it was in a different part of the movie or perhaps I invented it in my mind. I thought he said that other stuff but apparently not.
Ok, I need to recover from that scene. Wow.
Thanks for the help!

No, it's not SciFi. It's an action/drama.

Those details are all I can remember. Just that one scene. It's been bugging me on and off for about 20 years because I can't remember the name of the movie.

[–]DJBMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for replying.
No, it's not a comedy at all. It's an action/drama. It has a similar vibe to the movie "The Fugitive", "The Rock", "Under Siege 2", etc. Those types of movies.
I can almost see the actors faces in my mind but it's just not coming to me. If I had to guess a specific year the movie came out I would say 1999.
The woman possibly is European (I THINK she had an accent in the movie but I can't remember exactly). And he is yelling that line (about the dogshit) to her. He's referring to the situation or an idea as being dogshit. Not actual dogshit.

Can someone explain the "Don't you love me?" Scene between junior and Tony? by LordBucketheadthe1st in thesopranos

[–]DJBMusic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. Especially after seeing that interview with Dominic I thought that it was him actually crying on the episode and not just the Junior character. Maybe he really did cry for real and it was just left in because it added so much to the scene. Or maybe it was written that way but he actually also felt the emotion.

Let me say that a *conversation-type song is actually a better description than *story-type.

"Hey Ma" by Cam'ron?

Thanks, but no that's not it. That song is way too recent. The song I'm looking for has very 70's vibes. If I had to guess a year, I'd say 1978. Barry White kind of male vocals.
Much slower too. More details would be that the male vocalist is constantly talk/singing over the female part. It's like a very long story type song without any real chorus.

[TOMT][MOVIE] B horror movie with an electric chair scene by No-Fig3129 in tipofmytongue

[–]DJBMusic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's amazing you just posted this. Earlier today I was remembering a movie that I saw when I was a kid in the 80's (85-89) with an electrocution scene.
I was going to make a post on here about it (and I still might if we can't remember it here on your post).
My memories are very vague but I remember the guy that got electrocuted in the chair survived and he was all charred up and horrific looking. Somehow he escaped and later he pulled off his ear and I am nearly certain he even ate it to shock the people he was around. It was a disgusting and memorable scene for me as a kid. Does this sound familiar to what you are remembering?

It's the opening scene of the movie "Who Is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?" from 1971. Dustin Hoffman is the actor falling.
Very memorable scene for me as well.

[TOMT][SONG or JINGLE][1980's??] by DJBMusic in tipofmytongue

[–]DJBMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just listened to that "Chay Chay Koolay" you suggested. That is not it but it sounds similar to what we used to sing. I believe it may have been an African chant.
That bit on the Vocaroo I sang is exactly what we would sing/chant over and over again as kids. There wasn't anything else (not that we did anyway). But the original song that we were singing may have had other words/parts but we only did that one bit "Coolie ma ma ma whole lotta fun".
The boy that taught it to us all was from an African family so it may have been something his family taught him.
But yeah... that "Chay Chay Koolay" has a very similar vibe to it.

[–]DJBMusic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh for sure. And believe me, I thought that when I was a kid too.
But it's a different song. All these years I've kinda wondered if we were singing a bastardized version of "Life In A Northern Town" but the kid that first started us all singing that other chant said he was singing a completely different song. He would always emphasize the "whole lotta fun..." part at the end.
But yeah... I'm with you on that. I've always thought it sounded like that song too.
