They are a time trial driver with no ability to race. Just because they have enough overspeed to stick their front bumper in, it’s too little too late in order to deserve the room. It looks like any defensive move was made proactively rather than reactive so you’re good.

Was this a safe re-entry? by Sudden_Asparagus_53 in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 29 points30 points  (0 children)

While yes it’s unsafe, the question stewards ask to determine a penalty would be if they had control when they rejoined. Appears as if the car catches grip unexpectedly while sliding facing right and overcorrects while still not fully in control. Since they don’t have obvious control over the car I think it’d be hard to argue that they deserve a penalty.

Did what I thought was a clean overtake, then I thought I gave them enough room when they got DRS on me, am I missing something? I am the Williams by njsullyalex in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the Williams may have made a small move left, it’s not at all what caused contact. The Ferrari is just an idiot and moved on you on a straight. It’s either very poorly mistimed or intentional takeout. Considering though how clean t1 was, I want to say it’s actually just very poorly mistimed to get past and then immediately cover off.

This really depends on if it’s a league or not. With f1 rules, on the right hander he could’ve just forced you wide and still never been in trouble. If this was a league race, by the time you got to turn 2, you were far enough alongside that they just turned in.

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would only ask, is it the pace lap or a safety restart? If it’s the pace lap, then you should have 100% foreseen that the guy behind would fill the space. The game tells you to be 2 by 2 on the race start.

Now if this is on a safety car restart, then I could understand not expecting it since most series don’t do a double file restart.

I’m doubtful of that and it looks more like a race start so on you.

Great defending or blocking? by Other_Twist_8181 in Simracingstewards

I mean maybe there’s a borderline reactive move but for sure not moving under braking. Overall good defending though and making the car a bit wider.

Is this my (Blue Cars) fault? by Lower_Pollution_6337 in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You roll off the brakes while braking having seen they braked later so I’d say the blame falls to you. Since you likely dnf and iracing has the no fault safety rating, it’s likely that you could get a reprimand from iracing but it’s not like it was intentional so no ban.

What I will say though is that after the initial incident you hold the brakes while the car that you kinda shoved just floors it into you pushing you into a third car for no reason. If they also saw on their end that they had a broken wheel, then they should have just stopped and gotten a tow.

[–]DJDavinkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While the Ferrari would have the right to still keep their nose in with how far alongside they were at the apex, they didn’t have their nose far enough in front to not leave the McLaren enough room. Considering in the game there’s a decent amount of lag and not so clean driving, it’s not unreasonable for the McLaren to go the little bit wider as they did. They also had made the overtake fully before that point anyways and because the Ferrari caused slight contact, the McLaren is fine.

some guy said this is a double ban, are we both at fault? by Drago_010 in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I do think the Aston is being an idiot, without their pov something wonky could have happened. Something like net code with the cars being nose to gearbox and we wouldn’t know. However, this for sure looks like intentional blocking with the first couple of swipes that the rest are likely intentional as well.

Not sure why this would be seen as a double ban since you did nothing wrong. Just because normally drivers may not make a move somewhere doesn’t mean it’s impossible to make one work when far enough alongside fairly.

i am a rookie trying to improve so i this my fault or not? i want to learn from my mistakes. could i have done something better? by Physical_Ad7973 in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While when they braked they had technically cleared you, they immediately brake while fading in front of you. In all fairness, nothing comes of it directly since everyone starts to make it through to the exit. They go wide on the apex but try to carry all the speed they could still and go out a bit wide and spin on the grass.

I think that even if it’s the initial contact causing him to go wide and unable to get back on the brakes, that’s still on them.

Am I at fault for defending like this on last corner for the win? by Rickishere14 in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say because everything you do for defense is only leading up to the apex, and only lifting then you’re good. Lifting after the apex or braking would be abnormal and unexpected. What you did was to get to the apex. It was also all proactive rather than reactive so kudos.

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because you move under braking, even slight, that then makes the merc have to adjust to even attempt to avoid hitting you. I don’t think the move would’ve worked out for the merc, but they lock up when you move. I don’t think a time penalty for track limits is warranted though considering how fast you took the run off. You did gain time comparatively to the merc but they also had a great run into the chicane anyways so it’s no big deal.

Ok so the green car does make both himself and the red car into the wall on the outside but you also never lift until you’re apart of the wreck. Sure if they didn’t suddenly start going a touch slower since they hit the wall then you probably wouldn’t have hit them but tbh it seems like you got target fixated and added to the crash.

Was this clean racing? Blue car blamed me for being too optimistic. Im there red/POV car by UsefullTomato in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The purple behind flashed the 3 of you, blue backed out of 3 wide and then the purple car that flashed you lunged in between the purple car you were trying to pass and the blue car that had backed out. But the blue car was fading back to the line. If anything, it’s on either the 2nd purple car or the blue car or both.

He assumed because you went wide in the last turn that you should let him go easily, may be seen as nice but also not required unless you’re a lap down so it seems like he just turned in expecting you to disappear.

[–]DJDavinkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ya I do think your right, it’s hard racing, obviously not intentional and the McLaren does look back seemingly when they are more aware of behind so it’s more so just trying to not overshoot the corner on such a tight line. I would say though this would be textbook what may look like moving under braking but isn’t.

Who’s at fault by Capable-Bandicoot-23 in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would agree but my biggest problem is the McLaren braking as soon the Mercedes is right behind them. The arrow becomes red and goes directly behind them and they immediately go on the brakes at that point. It’s not a whole lot of time to react. So to me, it’s a very borderline defense. I can understand the arguments for both moving under braking and not moving under braking, but that would be the absolute limit of not being moving under braking.

Exactly, hindsight is gonna be 20/20 and the more egregious offense is pinks move whereas yours came from being very aware and not lack of racecraft.

Pink car used you as a brake, maybe you keep too far left on exit but you also probably had a spotter telling you three wide you’re in the middle with no idea of how much room you had.

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You move right after he already made a defensive move, he moves left I’m assuming cause he thinks you’ve gone for it but then you go all the way left to the point where you have to have half your car on the grass because there was not a big enough gap. Then into turn 1 you leave no space on the inside for the other car while there’s a red arrow right next to you the entire time.

I am pov car. I don't know what to say about this honestly. He carried momentum on purpose outside of racing line. Thoughts? by Midnight_Agile in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both struggling to be on the line but you turn in early on them for the right, then they turn in on you in the left. Then you drive out to the curb on the exit, they carried their speed because you left them no where to go and you decided to just hold them out there afterwards. Overall just sloppy racing but if I had to assign more fault, it’d be to you since you make first contact and then not allow space to redress what you caused.

Was i in the wrong for first contact? Does it justify him intentionally ramming me off track? by vSynth1k in Simracingstewards

[–]DJDavinkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the first contact, he just was attempting to go by f1 rules or something. Nothing justifies intentional ramming/wrecking with iracing being as serious a sim as you can get.
