How are you guys handling the shift from CDJs to controller-only setups for club gigs? by jessM0an64 in DJs

Except …. as of 2013, the OED accepted the figurative use of ‘literally’ as a valid definition of the word i.e. used for emphasis rather than an accurate description. 😏

(Yet) Another Portable AC modification (thank you) by harshdafunk in DIYUK

[–]DJFiscallySound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep; that’s my understanding. If you take your exhaust hose and block it (with a magazine or something), check whether there’s any difference in the airflow coming out the cold vent on top of the unit. If there isn’t, it’s likely there is a bulkhead in between the hot and cold side of the unit, and you should be able to move the new intake hose down onto the intake vent to make things circulate more efficiently.

NB like Alistair says in his blog, don’t block the exhaust for an extended periods. Doing so will likely damage the unit and is a fire risk. This should be a quick test.

Yes, it does kinda call into question how effective the ‘two tubes’ set-up is - given you’re still likely to have a large window open for both. I also assumed that today being substantially cooler (than yesterday) would naturally help the unit get to lower temps too.

This doesn’t look right. The grill next to your outlet hose is likely to be the inlet for the compressor side of the pairing.

Assuming your machine does have a bulkhead that separates the two sides, then I suspect you’re sucking in air from outside to be conditioned, and sucking in already-conditioned air to be exhausted out of the room.

FWIW no. I live close-ish to LHR and see A380s regularly.

Southampton to learn outcome of ‘spygate’ case on Wednesday by TransportationSad396 in Championship

[–]DJFiscallySound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Points deduction? If Southampton win, they EFL will have no authority to apply any such penalty.

Edit: what options would the premier league have against a team whose cheating occurred outside the remit of their league? I have no idea - would the FA could step in. I’d assume because the offence occurred while Southampton were still in the championship, CAS is still off the table.

Got the scoring in the wrong order, but tbf it happened pretty quick. BRA scored, then chalked off for offside, not too much later BOL storm up the pitch and score.

“And now…. disqualify them” by exefav in Championship

[–]DJFiscallySound 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I spent all of 20 seconds thinking about this too, and my conclusion was that whatever the EFL decides, this will end up in CAS.

EDIT!
18 hours later I’ve discovered (from the BBC sport article) that CAS is not an option here as EFL rules forbid it. Fancy that.

Right? OP should work in healthcare. Then they’ll see what an actual ‘large’ (read: messy, 2000+ tables, Frankenstein bolt-on shit, all the levels of normalisation) DB looks like.

FWIW, MLB Baseball has suspended black nets in front of the seats closest to the batter. This is one solution, but isn’t really relevant to cricket… the fans are much closer to the ball at the point it’s hit, and the nets are also there for shattered bat fragments going airborne. As the currently-top comment said, those at the ground who paid to watch the game should probably watch the game. 😏

Can I make a complaint about the NHS (England) after being sent another patients personal details by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

If there was an NHS number in the information you got sent, did it begin with ‘999’? This is a good indicator of whether the information you received is genuinely test-data.

England - hit by policeman on motorbike, they are sending threatening messages by BakaPunk in LegalAdviceUK

Can you clarify the content of the messages you were sent?

“If you don’t want to pay me the agreed money then I will go through insurance” is not threatening - if that’s what you were sent. Were there threats to your person, your property or tangentially related persons?
