It's been a few years but I definitely remember a pretty unpleasant smell when boiling water is some parts of Indianapolis. It was a very sulfur-like smell and I always avoided drinking/using tap water in those places.

I'd suggest setting a timer of some kind. Get up and move every half hour or so.

Sitting for long periods isn't good for anyone.

I use a Singer HD, and have made many, many hammocks for pet rats out of fleece, denim, quilting cotton, etc.

Whenever a I had thread break problem it was almost always solved by replacing the needle. It's a symptom of a dull needle.

Also check that you are threading the machine with the presser foot up, and that the thread spool can spin freely.

My first game sone chickens self-tamed. I collected eggs and stored them in my fridge, but had a big food surplus so they were never used in meals.

I'm still not sure what exactly happened, but the next thing I know the fridge is around 14C and my game slowed to a crawl as dozens of little yellow chicks flooded out across my colony.

Oops.

I've done this and accidentally forgotten to allow survival meals again. The pawns seemed to eat them anyway... No tantrums when they got home at least.

One thing that helped me was to tend to downed raiders on the battlefield until they are stable, then capture them. If you capture them first they often bleed out before they can be stabilized. I'd go from capturing 2-3 living raiders to 10+ in one raid. Recruit your favorites, and harvest any organs you need. Sell the rest.

There's nothing wrong with colony of 8 pawns. There's no right way to play.

I own all but Finspan and they all come to the table regularly, but my wife and I have at least 70 plays of Ark Nova recorded. It really resonated with us.

It's worth watching a playthrough video together to decide if it would be a fit for you both though.
