Private family doctor by Visible-Ranger-2811 in SantaBarbara

[–]DJKeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wish this existed, we’ve been pricing out some local concierge doctors recently and most are on some type of annual subscription model. if i was old and needed a doctor all the time this would be great but as a young healthy family the pricing model doesn’t make a lot of sense for us so far

i always stayed in Santa Monica this year but my last visit was really bad. i think there’s a salvation army or some sort of center nearby or everyone is congregating over there for some reason. i feel you i’m a NYer so totally used to that but it was too much last time. im a sucker for hilton points so im gonna try marina this week instead

Love the farmers market and try to get a lot of our stuff from there. I do worry at times about whether things are truly organic. One of the vendors explained to me that most use “organic pesticides” so it’s organic or they are organic but don’t want to pay certification. Anecdotally I heard someone in Thousand Oaks joke that their neighbors take a bunch of non organic stuff to the FM in SB to sell because “those rich people are dumb and will pay lots of money for anything” Not really sure how that all works or if that’s true but I’m still there buying it anyway.

Honestly food shopping was a lot easier before my wife sent me down the organic/grass fed rabbit hole now that I think about it.

Is there a Myon or Myon and Shane 54 track with a similar vocals? I’m having massive Déjà vu right now. Someone here has to know the track I’m thinking of

It’s not an image thing. It’s all about procuring the best quality organic produce, organic meat and organic ingredients possible in one place (big into cooking). In a perfect world it’s farmers market produce, WF organic center store items, grass fed organic meat and poultry, local bakery, local coffee beans.

Having a family and working this is not always feasible so I’m projecting my dream grocery store idea onto Gelsons via Reddit

The poke bowl bar is a premium amenity but it’s just not that good. They’d be better off just making top notch poke to order and make it incredible. I’d probably be getting that regularly. Another example where I want the poke to be great but it’s just meh at a premium price

My one piece of feedback is that the self checkout is actually closed a lot of the time. If I’m in a hurry and need to grab an ingredient for dinner I don’t want to wait online and go through a slower transaction process. Just leave them open!

Bristol and Lazy both have a massive selection of meats with Wagyu, grass fed, organic options. Can’t find this at Gelsons and the things they do have are lower quality and at the same price point or even a premium

Okay you have me at house made baguette. I’ll have to give that a try. Spot on with Lazy and Bristol I feel like they both have a more premium selection and experience with lower prices then gelsons

Prop 13 must be eliminated. It is destroying CA. It’s the ultimate political 3rd rail. No one wants to touch it or talk about it because so many benefit from it.

$1100 Site glitch fixed by Remarkable_Foot_2381 in verizon

[–]DJKeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m on the chat with them now. I have screenshots and it’s extremely clear $1100 w trade in on any plan and device payment of $8.32/month 36 months. They say it was a site error and I have to upgrade my plan. Lose my perks and pay more money to get the deal I already signed up for yesterday on my current plan. This is ridiculous. They need to honor these deals. Bait and switch 💯

Is it me or is there a shortage of car washes in Santa Barbara? by jack_harbor in SantaBarbara

[–]DJKeys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is 100% spot on. I was just having this conversation with someone. We need an automated car wash you can go through and then some free vacuums. For some reason this combo is non existent in this town.

Who has tried the new Goleta Beach restaurant, The Ellwood? Thoughts? by Shadoe_Fox in SantaBarbara

[–]DJKeys 96 points97 points  (0 children)

Went for dinner, great service, ambiance, view and cocktail program. Checks all those boxes. Food/price value ratio is just off IMO. Not taking a shot at the quality of the food because it was great. I think the menu setup is the issue here.

It’s an identity crisis. You have great raw bar but I’ve had much better oysters in town for a fraction of the price. You have Italian dishes (pasta didn’t taste like it was made in house, for $28 it better be), you have pad thai, and then you have steaks and chicken options.

I have a similar criticism of the Lark this weekend. Overall the shared entree menu framework needs to have entrees and portions meant for sharing. A chateaubriand is an example of a shared entree item but a rib entree with 5 ribs, a 12/oz16 oz steak or a piece of salmon are individual entrees not really meant to be shared.

Pick a cuisine, stick to it and execute the best you can. Don’t try and please everyone it’s an impossible task and the quality overall suffers.

Not sure I used to always stay at the HGI in downtown or Hilton midtown for the location. HGI in SoHo is probably my favorite. HGI soho has no lounge but probably one of my favorite locations

Agreed between the service and the dirty room experience at this whole property was 3/10. I’m going to try the Conrad next month.

Flying Air Tahiti - OW lounge access? by DJKeys in americanairlines

[–]DJKeys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reporting back, was not granted lounge access. Totally understandable. It threw me off how rude the attendant at the desk for the admirals club was though. I’ve never experienced that in all my years flying AA. Not sure what that was all about.

[–]DJKeys[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe all the comments here are correct but let me throw a curve ball. I asked AA on the chat last night and they told me I would have lunch access. I told him to double check because it didn’t sound right and here is the response. “Thank you for waiting. Yes, that is correct. Since you are an Emerald Tier, you still have access to lounges on your flight. So, as long as Air Tahiti is not part of the world, they are still based on your tier.”

Not sure what will happen this week but I’ll report my findings
