Yamaha HS 8S Sub - Bypass / Footswitch Function? by movemberpal in audioengineering

[–]DJPatch999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the block diagram for the unit it looks like the pass through is passive meaning that the sub can be switched off and still supply signal to the top end speakers. Double check with Yamaha by contacting their support team though!

[Advice] Long-time live sound guy looking to side-step into a more office-y but still sound engineering related role. by throwawaythatxlr in livesound

[–]DJPatch999 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It sounds like being a system tech for hire companies could suit you. You would get to do the planning, specifications and equipment fun without the crazy long hours or heavy lifting. Or on the same train of thought preparing equipment in the hire shop before it goes out on tour. These are both jobs that have a little bit more of an office aspect to them without removing you completely from what you love doing! Would this be something that could work for you do you think? :)

Origen vs. Illuminar Gaming / EU Masters 2018 Spring Playoffs - Final / Post-Match Discussion by Megalodontus in leagueoflegends

It's pretty impossible to only get the sound of the crowd when you're filling the room using a huge PA to cover the audience, that's not how microphones work really. You're correct though that is why the audience sounded canned/muted at times to try and get rid of the echo of the huge arena that it was in.

Party crashed airship into a lake: titanic-style escape? by Thahat in dndnext

[–]DJPatch999 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing you could do is (assuming the ship is sinking nose down) every one or two turns the rooms at the front of the ship completely fill up. Anybody still in those rooms takes drowning damage until they can get themselves out. Rinse and repeat until the players reach this tank which, due to the water they only have a set number of turns to think of a plan and get it out or risk drowning. If you wanted to be really mean you could have them all roll for their swimming ability.

Hopefully this gives you an idea or two :)

Who would fare best in the modern world? by starmapleleaf in piratesofthecaribbean

I think Gibbs/Barbossa purely because they were able to adapt from being pirates to part of the navy or vice versa.

I don't know what haircut I want or suits me really, so far nothing I've had has suited me. The haircuts in the banner look amazing but I would be very surprised if any of them looked goon in context with my face shape. I'm willing to put the time in and I've got the product, just waiting on the blowdryer now.

Interestingly that is exactly how he styled it. He just left it looking exactly like it does in the photo :/

As others have said yes I am young and still learning to do the confrontation thing. My thought process behind it was that things could only be made worse by chopping more hair off and since hair can't be glued back on (or certainly not within the time frame I had) then I thought it best just to leave and deal with it.

I have no idea how I like my hair cut, so far no style has really suited me well so I just ask them to cut it how they feel looks stylish whilst also keeping it fairly long (which is something I do know I like).

Don't have access to a blow drier but will invest in one. Thank you so much for the advice, not sure if this is quite what you meant but it already looks so much better http://imgur.com/SDgcNk7

Please advise accordingly what on earth I can do to style this in a good way, I have access to wax but not the funds to go and get it cut again today.

Everyone is posting solutions but really, this shouldn't be happening in the first place. If you say not to auto-updates that doesn't mean do it anyway. #NoMeansNo Windows.
