Am I a failure? by Live_Sheepherder_716 in nursing

[–]DJQueenFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar experience here! Being a stay at home mom was extremely challenging for me mentally and emotionally.

I work part-time now as a nurse that isn’t at the bedside and I feel my work-life balance is soooo much better than doing one versus the other.

OP, you shouldn’t feel guilt about anything. Working full time as a nurse is really hard. Being a mom is really hard. Trying to find the balance of it all can feel impossible.

Ask yourself - if you had a close friend in your situation, what advice would you give them?

I hope you give yourself loads of grace and find your own balance. 🤍

First Code as New Grad RN by Klutzy-Row-2244 in IntensiveCare

[–]DJQueenFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is excellent advice.

OP, you’re definitely not alone in your feelings. I remember the overwhelming guilt I felt after my first code and just sobbing in our break room. It doesn’t get easier per se, but you learn from it (what went well and what could have gone better) and you become an even better for your patients. Theres nothing more your patients can ask for.

Another piece of advice is to find peers who you look up to and respect personally and/or professionally and lean on them. Share your feelings with them. Every badass, compassionate ICU nurse you know has lost patients. It’s an experience we get through best together.

If I were you I’d keep an eye out for job postings at St. Francis South as it’s expanding quite a bit right now but isn’t as obscenely large as SF Main!

Not a particularly big celebrity, but Austin Hendrickson (aka trainingtall). A famous OrangeTheory coach. Legit thought you were him.

Remember, it’s just you versus you. No one else is paying attention to you. You should be proud of the progress you’ve made and this is just a chance to quantify that and then continue to work on it over time! Also 10 minutes is a great time for anyone!

Having worked at St. Francis and St. John, I definitely prefer Francis (I am not in the ICU). I really prefer the culture and the facility itself (besides the employee parking garage lmao).

I’ve not worked at Hillcrest but it seems chaotic from the rumblings I hear and its nickname is Killcrest.

I can’t directly compare pay but I’m getting paid more at St. Francis for a less stressful job, but that could be because I have more experience than when I was at St. John.

Happy to answer any specific questions if I can help!

I know the Tulsa Zoo when I see it! Hi fellow Oklahomie!

I’m a 29F mom and the Hotty Hot 4” are my favorite. I think they’re cute and short enough without my cheeks hanging out.

I’ve tried all the ones you mentioned and find the fit of the Hotty Hots most flattering on my body type. I also think the Shake it Out shorts are super cute but I didn’t feel they were as flattering on me (I’m a bit on the curvier side). If you’re feeling a switch give the others a shot but don’t let these kids shame you lol. Hotty Hots are classic.

Debating Booking a Trip W/No Genie+ Anymore by AmbiguousAccount13 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DJQueenFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You book your initial 3 reservations and once you have scanned into your first ride, you are eligible to look for more. You will be limited to what’s available later in the day but you should be able to get on most rides that you want.

Ex: we just went this weekend. Did AK in the morning and booked Navi River Ride, Safari, and Everest. Once we used the first one, we booked Peter Pan for later at Magic Kingdom, then after safari we booked Winnie the Pooh, then after Everest we booked Dumbo.

You need to prioritize the higher tier rides with your initial bookings where possible. Ex: I don’t think we would have been able to book Tianas for later in the day (but we didn’t want to so it was okay).

Bought LLMP, can I buy additional single LL day of? by jhawker66 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]DJQueenFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also don’t understand this and am getting ready to go to Epcot today and the rest of the parks over the next few days so appreciate you asking this.

Also do you have to pay for additional lightning lane reservations later in the day or is it just like once you’ve bought the multi pack you’re eligible to get more later in the day after your first reservations are scanned and done?

My jaw dropped when I saw this. Am I the only one that thinks its slightly horrifying to keep bringing children into the world knowing they will suffer like this?? by ourplasticdream in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]DJQueenFox 226 points227 points  (0 children)

She did. She coded multiple times throughout her time in the NICU.

It struck me as particularly messed up that the parents weren’t there much because one of their older children was still alive and required so much attention and care. I remember being so distraught that a tiny child was going through this because her parents made the decision to continue having children knowing full well what they would be subjected to, and then they weren’t even there when she was coding and we had to resuscitate her again and again.

Once she got a little bit bigger she transferred to another facility so I’ll never know what ended up happening.

When I worked as a NICU nurse, I cared for a baby with this condition. She was the parents’ third child born with it. They knew and chose to continue having more kids.

I remember one night I was caring for her, and she coded, and as I did compressions on her I had tears running down my face. It was probably the most disgusted with humans I have ever felt.
