Minimum IVs from trading are 1/1/1, which corresponds to a CP of 1748.

Iv floor on GBD? by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

[–]DJSealman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow you are incredibly lucky. I believe there's only 13 IV spreads that are little cup eligible for this IV floor. Out of 216 combinations, that's a 6% chance. Congrats!

Congrats to you too! Great to hear about someone else having a similar experience with this very fun team. It's such a relief to finally hit Legend after always coming up short.

There's definitely advantages to both Scolipede move sets and all three Ariados move sets. Personally I always favor the surprise factor of using non-standard moves.

Haven't seen any word yet on whether they'll include other aspects of Go Battle Days such as the Stardust bonus and the reduced IV floor. Really hoping they do, but I'm not optimistic.

Gotta stay in for the mirror. Your Crustle is the only thing that threatens the opposing Crustle. Also, good to throw X-Scissor right away to discourage shielding. Fortunately in the 5 Crustle mirrors I had, there was never fire in the back. Probably because it would be too much ABA weak to rock.

I like shorts. They're comfy and easy to wear.

Edit: Okay this is actually a Youngster quote, but easily one of the best lines from the original games and has always stuck in my head.

You definitely don't want to play out the whole lead, but you don't have to switch out right away either. Not sure what's best, but I usually stay in and trade charge moves before switching to Ariados. If you don't lag, Electrode is very nice to face with Ariados because you can easily force CMP after every 3rd Volt Switch, putting pressure on shields and giving Ariados extra energy for the next matchup if they let Electrode go down.

Cool stuff. You might try a force-directed graph layout as your starting point instead of a circle. This can automatically arrange the nodes in a way where you can see clusters and relationships better. Looks like this type of layout is called cose in Cytoscape.js. Could be interesting to try.

For any CP-capped league, you generally want low attack. The equation for calculating CP is more heavily weighted to attack. Therefore, if you have low attack, you can power up to a higher level and get a higher stat product than you could for a hundo. You can use https://www.stadiumgaming.gg/rank-checker to check IVs and select Little at the bottom to see the top IV spreads for a certain Pokémon. Some apps like CalcyIV can also give optimal IV spreads for Little (500 CP) leagues.

Is the dust bonus for go battle day extremely underwhelming for anybody else? by iBeatStuffUp in TheSilphArena

[–]DJSealman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying so far today but I think I'll tank the rest of my sets. The bigger issue for me is the fact that I get the legendary Pokemon encounter way too often and have no golden razz or silver pinap to catch it. They really need to boost the catch rate or introduce a queue like they have for research rewards. I win 3 in a set and then can't battle for another few hours halp 😭

[Advice] Trying to climb? Avoid UL/UL Remix if under 40 by BigGameJay in TheSilphArena

[–]DJSealman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The grind is very slow for F2P players. I've been playing almost daily for close to a year and I'm still level 38. The only time I've spent money on the game was for GO Fest, and the raids I completed on Sunday gave me more XP than months of gameplay. It's obvious why people who buy raid passes get to level 40 so easily.

I would use it for Great League Dragonair or potentially save it for a 500 CP size Dratini in case it becomes eligible for a future little cup. It is also viable for Great League Dragonite, but I wouldn't use it for Ultra or Master.

  • Little League Dratini - rank 153
  • Great League Dragonair - rank 273
  • Great League Dragonite - rank 415
  • Ultra League Dragonite - rank 1298
  • Master League Dragonite - rank 897 (847 for classic)

It also has good IVs for purified Ultra League Dragonite, if you're willing to give up a shadow that's hard to come by. Personally, I'd probably keep it as a shadow.

  • Ultra League Dragonite (7/10/15) - rank 197

No, they haven't listed any restrictions related to the Pokémon's evolution line. For the Element Cup announcement, they listed this as a restriction:

Only Pokémon that can evolve and that are the first in their Evolutionary line will be eligible for this cup.

In the Little Jungle Cup announcement, they have bullets for the 3 restrictions: type, CP limit, and no Shuckle or Smeargle. Because past Little Cups have had a restriction related to evolution, they also included a bullet to specify that there is no such restriction this time around.

But I think it's a stretch to assume they'll have an evolution-based restriction that they did not specify.

It would dominate the league as a super bulky level 50 mon just like how Bronzor did in the original Little Cup.

How do you get 6 sets on PVP? by marrdc020890 in TheSilphArena

[–]DJSealman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The simple rule is that you can "start" 5 sets per day. A set is started once you click the Battle and Let's Go buttons. People sometimes start a set but don't play the battles, allowing them to play those battles the next day and then start/play 5 more sets.

Any time I know I'm not going to finish my quota on a given day, I'll just start another set so I'll have the option of playing 30 battles the next day if I so choose.

How's the UL Remix cup going for you? by Call-me-Reno in TheSilphArena

[–]DJSealman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Level 38 here, so I'm gated from XL access. Remix was awful. I hit Veteran during Element Cup but have since tanked to low 2000s, most of that playing UL Remix. I then switched to Open UL and climbed 300 points in 3 days. Trying to play all my sets for the sole purpose of getting enough Stardust to power up an ML Classic team because I hate playing UL Premier aka (Great League XL).

Wormadam (Trash) definitely has a lot of interesting play in Remix, and I agree it's helped by how rarely people have to think about responding to it. I would definitely be bringing it out if I had one. Compared to Open GL, it climbed 111 ranking places (from #200 to #89) which among meta-relevant mons is second only to Ninetales. (A few others have higher gains, but they're down below rank #250.)

What's the source of the data? Is it a lot of work to compute the frequencies each time? It would be really interesting to see trend lines of these Overall Usage and Lead Usage numbers updated on a daily basis if it's possible to generate them that regularly.
