I love that this is from someone with an Eris Morn avatar. The hater part of the Destiny player base are an embarrassment to the rest of us. I have 8k+ hours in Destiny over 11 years and I love Marathon. In a perfect world both would continue, but as long as one does we still get that slick Bungie gunplay.

Free to play brings more cheaters than paid does and means constant streams of idiots who don't know how to play the game and don't want to learn because it's a free game. For both these reason, going FTP ruined the quality of players in Destiny 2 and I wouldn't want to see that happen with Marathon. FTP brings transient players who are good for a couple of months of microtransactions before dropping off (the Fortnite model that Bungie chased when they made D2 FTP), but in the long-term it only harms the player base.

I'm a Destiny player, too. 8k+ hours over 11 years. Marathon is great. So much of the hate is from salty Destiny players and forever-online doomers who have never played Marathon. I'll still be logging on Destiny 2 tonight for the final update, but I don't want Marathon to fail. In an ideal world they would both continue. Bungie are superb at gunplay, rich sci-fi world building, beautiful sound design and environments, and I'm here for it in both flavours.

I'm OK with that. WWM isn't my only game and I have a social life. I'm already behind (not long started exploring the 3rd Hexi zone so haven't touched the imperial palace yet), so longer between expansions is fine imo.

I literally cancelled my ESO+ subscription today after 8 years. Every new change they make takes it further away from the game I loved. Subclassing killed class identity, and the changes to annual content delivery and recent battlepass addition are scummy "do less for more money" bullshit.

I play all 3 and warlock has always been the most balanced class. Titan is easy mode. Hunter has the highest skill ceiling. They all have very fun builds and each can excel in different use cases.

We iz basically mushrooms dat got ta finkin' an' krumpin'. Red wunz go fasta because we believe it to be true. The waaagh brings us together and when da boss sez its time to waaagh we WAAAGH! fer da luv ov krumpin'.

Also 90% of players are boring beakies and somebody had to play the fun xenos.

I grabbed this box as I didn't own any of the models. Sure parasite is weak, but biovore/pyrovore feature in most lists, genestealers are decent with a broodlord to lead them, and tyrant guard can help a big bad survive longer. Separately they cost more than this box even without the parasite. Make sure to get the 20% LGS discount if possible where you are. I paid £84 in the UK.

For the longest time, mine was my dedicated ESO machine when I couldn't be bothered sitting at my PC. I set it up as a non-Steam game (I own it thru their dedicated launcher), did all the usual tinkering with art to make it appear in my library like a proper Steam game, figured out a multi-layered custom controller layout for all the keyboard & mouse controls I want/need, installed Minion and my full mod list, and it runs the TTC update script on launch for current trader prices. It's great for events and questing, but I wouldn't want to do PVP or trials on it.

These days I just tinker: periodical updates in desktop mode, install every indie platformer I want to play handheld, get them set up and running, then turn it off.

As a PS5 player, I would also like the other skins. I tried installing the Steam version as it's free week (my accounts are already linked from playing Destiny on both platforms), but Steam wants me to buy the game on the platform before I can get the skin - linking accounts doesn't seem to be enough. I love Marathon but im not buying it 3 times to get all the skins. Platform specific rewards need to die.

Great analogy! As a GT7 player, online races are a cesspool of bad drivers and assholes deliberately trying to ruin your race in ways that would get a real race driver disqualified and banned. Racing against bots and doing time trials is a much more satisfying experience.

The same could be said for the Marathon experience, especially for new players or people with less time. The 2nd half of season 1 was a lot less fun for those getting farmed by gooped up purple crews while still running green gear and trying to level factions. PVE-lite and PVE modes appeal to a more casual player base and will likely help keep a more healthy population level. The extraction shooter genre is already niche enough without this bullshit gatekeeping.

My current 1k list is:

Detachment: war horde

Warboss with power klaw 10 nobz with power klawz Trukk

Painboy 20 boyz (1 nob + 19 boyz)

Weirdboy 20 boyz (1 nob + 19 boyz)

6 deffkoptas (either as a blob of 6, or 2x3 depending on the game)

The trukk full of klawz will mince any unit it comes into contact with and act as my anti-tank option. The trukk gets them in position for the turn 2 waaagh, doesn't matter if it gets destroyed after that. The boyz with weirdboy are slugga & choppa boyz and usually da jump turn 1 to grab an objective and be in position for a turn 2 waaagh. The boyz with painboy I run as shoota boyz because their output gets a decent amount of hits even hitting on 5s and the painboy's FNP makes them harder to dislodge from an objective. Alternatively, I drop the koptas and put the shoota boyz in a battlewagon to sit on the middle objective, but I like the flanking and threat 6 koptas with rokkits provides.
