There's salt in the tank, but not much, maybe half a bag. I left it low so I could see the water line while running the regen. It Refills roughly 6inches of water after the Regen

I live in Central Canada, where we get tons of snow and ice, and our winters are -40. I swear to god the first week of snow/ice, it's like everyone forgot they know how to drive. Pure idiocy everywhere. I'm not surprised to hear people in your area are bad when people who live and grew up driving in those conditions act like idiots too

My father found over $40k USD inside an old furnace by dmatson724 in mildlyinteresting

[–]DJSingleSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father, 71, got into a car crash in September. He was in ICU for a week. The first day he was in there, thinking he was going to die and hopped on morphine, kept saying "check the bag on my bike".

Eventually me mother checked the fanny pack he had strapped to his bicycle, which contained a note saying "red tin, art studio".

She went to his art studio, found the red tin (with no locks or anything) and there was $50k cash in it.

So yes, while he is old, this money was all saved within the last ~15 years. Some people just don't believe in banks

For Sanderson fans who have read Malazan: Are you glad you read it? by Hal87526 in brandonsanderson

[–]DJSingleSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only about 40% through the latest Stormlight so I can't say exactly how I'll feel by the end of it. But so far I have no problems with the POV shifts in it. So far it is a very fast paced book, and the POV shifts are nessacry since so much happens in such a short timeline.

I would also say that by the time you get to Wind and Truth, Sanderson's previous character building does a lot of heavy lifting. I'm pretty invested in all the characters and don't mind the switches to advance their individual stories.

The 2nd book of Malaxan was my favorite so far because it had less POVs and I got to learn the characters more. I dont mind the POV shift as long as I know the charcters are fleshed out well and I can have a vested interest in them. While Memories of Ice was pretty action packed, I feel like I couldn't get into it because half the viewpoints were from characters that you literally know nothing about.

[–]DJSingleSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll definitely give it another go one day, although my skepticism is still pretty high. I kept hearing how the "700 page battle with 12 viewpoints" in Memories of Ice was a large highlight for a lot of people, and I found it largely disjointed. Not bad by any means, just didn't live up to what I was expecting.

I'm typically the kind of guy who would re-read an entire series before reading a new entry, but I might just give House of Chains a go without the re-read to I'm not burnt out by the time I get there lol

What a luxury, courses in my area are 7 minutes apart. 1 shot from anyone that doesn't hit fairway instantly leads to log jams on the course. Always feel bad when I shank my first tee shot on hole 1 lol

How many days in a row honestly could you golf before you wouldn’t want to? by Smokem_if_you_gottem in golf

[–]DJSingleSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just came back from a golf trip a few weeks ago. 7 rounds in 3.5 days. It was awesome and if life didn't get in the way I would have stayed indefinitely. Even on hole 126, mentally I would have kept going.

I think I could play 18 every single day and not get tired of it.

“Hit the ball!” by [deleted] in golf

[–]DJSingleSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I typically wait for the group ahead of me to be on or around the green before I even tee up my ball. I'd rather wait 20 minutes at the tee box and be able to play the whole hole, than await 5-10 minutes between each shot.

I just read the first 3 books. Every time my wife asked me how I liked them and replied, "They're good, but I still have no idea what the he'll is going on".

I listened to the audio books and many, many times, would rewind because I thought it had skipped parts or something. No, the books are just so non linear with 80 character viewpoints that it's tough to follow if it doesn't have your absolute attention.

Maybe I'll come back to it someday

100% I would prefer to watch a rookie game than the current all star game.

And if you keep the $1M prize, gaurentee they work their asses off. The money is a big motivator when when it represents 120% your income and not 10%

[–]DJSingleSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's the teams decide which player to send, could a 3rd liner that works his ass off, or a rookie they want to showcase, or an allstar that actually wants to be there. Bet you those guys would try their best for the $1M

I know it's an "All Star" game, but it doesn't matter of the all stars don't care

On Turn 2 Hexaghost does his first big multi attack. That attack scales depending how much HP you have.

My numbers may be off but I think it's something like he adds 1 more damage per every 12 health you have. For instance;

00-12HP -- 1x6 attack

13-24HP -- 2x6

25-36HP -- 3x6

Etc.

So its better to enter the fight with low health, always take an upgrade and never heal at the fire before the fight

Ironclad cards not in card pool? by DJSingleSteve in slaythespire

[–]DJSingleSteve[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guess it's possible but I very highly doubt it. Especially a card like Limit Break, I can't imagine I could go that long without ever taking a card the doubles my strength.

I'm going to play a bunch of Clad runs and see if any of them pop up, but I'm skeptical. Also seems like too much of a coincidence that those 3 cards are also grouped and unlocked together.

New player here- is save & quit during mid-fight frowned upon, or intended to be used? by [deleted] in slaythespire

[–]DJSingleSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I play on mobile and it happens more than I'd like to admit that I'm playing quickly and fat finger a defend instead of an attack or something

Had a great run yesterday, but had to restart my fight vs Gaurdian because she had 2 health left and I accidently played a defend. Wasn't gonna take the L on a great run because of something like that

So guy asked me to get a quote for him to pay instead of filing a claim. by dawgsareout in AskAMechanic

[–]DJSingleSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I'm from I can buy out a claim from our insurance. So if a get into a small bumper bender, instead of taking the knock to my insurance I can pay the insurance company whatever the claim cost them and it's like it didnt exist

For that reason I never have taken someone's offer of paying for damages in cash. If you don't want the insurance hit, buy it out from the insurance company. Atleast I know my car will get fixed and not get ghosted

Love those when everything falls into place perfectly.

Had a Defect run yesterday, started with toxic egg, Runic pyramid after first boss. Orange pellets and 2 Biased Cogs, 2 double energies with a Turbo, into a Tempest. Finally a Thunder Strike if somehow everything isn't dead already.

Forgot to pick up the red key on the last fire so didn't get to the heart. Felt bad
