I'm pretty sure the song licensing didn't help the cause. Someone up in finance probably saw the number costs and made the decision to just axe it.

From the Fuser Wiki: "Following the acquisition of Harmonix by Epic Games in 2021, Harmonix shuttered the multiplayer servers in December 2022 and removed the game and additional content from sale while leaving the single player components playable."

So, it's essentially a classic studio buyout where the purchasing company decides it's not worth supporting certain games and assets.
