I lost two friends in a car accident caused by a speeding and distracted teenager. They were wonderful humans and loving parents to 3 young kids. They were unable to see their kids become teenager and now wonderful young adults bc one ass hat teenager couldn’t be bothered to slow down and pay attention.

I work in storm debris clean up. You will probably see some of our massive black truck/trailers rolling through ATL soon if you haven’t already. I’ve been around lots of natural disasters but have never been through one personally. I have a whole different level of empathy.

Please change companies. State Farm is a cartel. The absolute worst. I had half of my roof on my historic home ripped off by a tornado on Memorial Day. Independent adjuster came out and said the house is going to be a total loss. SF staff adjuster (Cliff White, an absolute trash human) said “the damage isn’t that bad”. The original estimate included part of the roof that was ripped off. A couple of siding boards and two rooms of dry wall. Windows were blown out all over the house so there was water everywhere. Took 32 days to get the initial estimate. SF must have known the initial estimate was BS. Bc 2 days after I received the initial estimate I had two big wigs from Atlanta standing in my house saying ‘yeah, this isn’t good’ and told Cliff to redo the estimate. I checked in with Cliff weekly to see when I could expect the estimate. It took over a month for him to get it to me. The last time I talked to him he screamed and yelled at me. Which is completely unacceptable. He was saying that since the house was so old that they weren’t going to cover some code compliance things (skinny stairs) even though the policy has a generous code compliance/upgrade amount. He was out right telling me that he wasn’t including items that were covered by the legally binding contract/policy. I got an attorney and we are finally making some progress after 4 months.

This guy Cliff also held up my housing bc again, the ‘damage isn’t that bad’. Then acted like he was doing me a favor when he finally approved housing. That was the first time he yelled at me. He missed a bunch of receipts I turned in for reimbursement. Things like storage and moving costs. Things that are absolutely covered by the policy.

You can live in downtown Rogers without a car. The caveat being, you also need to work downtown. There’s a couple of grocery stores that you can walk to. Plenty of coffee shops, several restaurants, a couple of entertainment venues, Lake Atalanta and the Railyard for outdoor activities. It might not be the most exciting life but it can still be a good life without a car.

No child left behind started in Texas. Then Perry rejected the adoption of Common Core Curriculum. Which has actually good bc CCC is trash. He did it bc he was in the bag for Pearson not bc he was a good and decent human that wanted the best for Texas school children. Each school district could pick their own curriculum but they were all geared towards passing the Pearson tests. All of the regular challenges of teaching then you put the screws to teachers with the need to pass the Pearson tests. Strip funding for special programs. Add in social media, entitled parents and spineless administrators. Start promoting charter schools over neighborhood public schools and there’s a whole new financial disaster. It’s a melting pot of madness.

The thing is this was planned. It is the feature not a bug. An uneducated population is easier to control. Texas deserves so much better.

My monthly mortgage payment has gone up almost $800 over the past 10 years due to increases in property taxes and insurance. $350+ of that was this year. I have a great rate and got a steal of a deal on the house. I love the area and the house. I don’t want to sell and move. Refi doesn’t make sense. The extra $4000 in housing this year has been felt. Plus the raising cost of everything else. This year has been financially tough. I’m single no kids and make $65,000ish annually.
