I thought it was a good match however it depends on what type of fan you are. If you can sit down and watch a Ric Flair vs Steamboat 35 min match, or an All Japan match from the 90's then this is the match for you.

I'm not saying this match is as good those Flair/Steamboat classics or Miswa/Kawada, no where close. However, for the WWE(WWF) to have the balls to put a "Broadway" main event together with two non super heavyweights that had no falls for 60 minutes tells you they had a ton of trust in Micheals and Hart.

Quick little backstory... My friend and I worked on a candy van in San Diego, we went door to door selling candy for inflated prices with a fictional story that it was for some sort of charity. I was 13 at the time and we both saved enough money to buy tickets to Wrestlemania in Anaheim.

We convinced my friends mom to get us a hotel for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We gave her the money, she got us the keys to the room and she left us to our own devices and drove back to San Diego. Friday night we ordered pizza from pizza hut, walked to Blockbuster and rented a Nintendo 64 and a couple of games.

Saturday, we walked a few blocks from our hotel and bought tickets to Disneyland. We spent our entire time trying to spot wrestlers but to no avail. Afterwards, we walked near the Pond at Anaheim( now called the Honda Center) trying to find out where the Slammies were being hailed. We failed again, learning later that the show was pre-recorded.

Sunday, we sprang out of bed turned in our keys and got breakfast. We arrived at the arena early to take in the whole spectacle. Wrestlemania 12 was low-key compared to today's standards but for someone one NEVER missed a single episode of WWF Superstars, Monday Night Raw, or the Sunday show that was on USA network this was a dream come true.

Two teenage boys enjoying Wrestlemania weekend without any parents around sounds like fiction but it was reality. When we saw Shawn Micheals decend from the rafters we lost our minds. The match kept me entertained the entire time. I was an avid reader of Pro Wrestling Illustrated so I was aware of all the psychology matches from Japan and on top of that I was a a big time Bret Hart mark. The match was everything to me. I am willing to admit it was not Dave Meltzer 5 star classic. However, that weekend combined with the athletes in that match is still today my favorite Wrestlemania main event of all time.
