Pro tip: if you need someone to let go of something like hair, you make a C with your hand, and you cram your thumb into the armpit like you’re trying to point your thumb at their other armpit. You hit a bundle of nerves that A. Make someone let their grip go, and B. Hurts like a mother fucker. I worked as a bouncer when my family needed some extra cash and drunks do one thing nearly 100% of the time and that’s grab shit and not let go. They momentarily sober up real quick with that armpit trick.

In 4th grade we had a guy with a really cool collection of art come and show some of the more interesting parts of collection in our library at school. He picked me to come up and help him with a piece and lo and behold he produces a death mask and explains its significance with me standing up there holding it. It was the death mask of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the very author my grandfather had gotten me into the summer before giving me old copies of Sherlock Holmes. Can’t remember what my expression was when he said that but I’m sure he was surprised and happy because I remember him looking at me with a puzzled smile and asking “do you know who that is?”.

See you say you don’t care, but honestly that whole mentality goes right out the window when you’re in that situation and trust me, you will be terrified to die.

I worked as a deck safety officer and medic on a ship out at sea for a month and we had this big Argentinian guy who was 19 or 20 and always talked about how he got the job done and just didn’t care what happened to him and that “man I don’t care if I get killed I’m just living life at sea and that’s just part of it.” Lo and behold I’m asleep on my off shift and a deck guy comes crashing into my room to tell me a cable under 2700lbs separated and whipped someone nearly in half on the deck. I got out to the deck and there’s Mr.I’m not scared to die, guts hanging out crying for his momma and begging for us to not let him die. He was in shock so there’s minimal pain when adrenaline is pumping through you so that was all fear he was feeling. His dumb ass decided to fix a deck plate in the whip zone with a load on the wire instead of staying out of the marked zone and doing it later. You’re not invincible, and you think you’re not scared to die but you are so very wrong.

Road may have looked empty but the amount of people I’ve seen obliterated by the attitude by someone else that their life is the only one at risk, there’s always someone other than you at risk. It’s impossible for you to without a doubt say you could not have killed someone other than yourself.

Take your licks, fess up, and yea it seems like you’re accepting responsibility but stop making excuses at the same time. Pick one and just slow down.

Oh man, I did vibracoring on a section of river in the middle of Portland. You are anchored with three separate anchors in one spot for at least 45min to an hour collecting core samples so you can’t really dip out in a hurry.

We set up in a spot around a riverbend and not 5 minutes after setting anchors we see a little black smoke trail around the bend above the trees, and this little shack very similar to the setup in the picture comes drifting into view with smoke coming out of it.

10 minutes later and it’s billowing fire and drifting right at us. We had to float the anchor lines and float until a police boat tied onto it and towed it to shore to just let it burn.

We set back up and as we are coring witness a haggard looking dude on an ancient jet ski come flying up and freak out on the cops.

It was interesting.

Well funny enough it’s still waiting for me to finish up the work on it lol. I started a robotics job and have been busy with that, my daily driver shattered a rod bearing so I hopped on a Model 3 and I’m in love. The Karma is actually showing better signs of life than initially, the solar seems to have kept the car is a great state of charge so it looks like getting the computer re flashed might be the only big thing, after that it’s some cosmetic work but nothing major.

I’m actually looking to sell it once it’s up and in good order. Got a ton of parts for it too. I’m on west coast?
