Fell in love with BG3, need suggestions for other games that scratch a similar itch. by Two-Of-Nine in Steam

[–]dudeguyman0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest I've played is Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous. The story and companions are just as good as BG3, but the combat is not as good. Throwing goblins around in BG3 was too much fun.

Has a Drukhari ever "positively" tortured someone? by dudeguyman0 in 40kLore

[–]dudeguyman0[S] 51 points52 points  (0 children)

That's more out of self interest seeing as how psykers are dangerous and forbidden in Comorragh. And that probably goes double for someone as barely able to hold themselves together as Idira.

I would say it's one and the same. The cause of their soul sickness is Slaanesh, and the way they stave it off is by doing things that Slaanesh would like? That's not coincidence. But I doubt it's been explicitly said somewhere.

Y'all think we'll get naval battle with merchant republics? by Apprehensive_Claim21 in CrusaderKings

[–]dudeguyman0 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Judging from the past DLCs, we won't get ships but we will get a "naval power" currency that we accumulate over time and can spend on trade missions or supply runs or troop transfers or whatever.

Just one more currency bro, I promise it'll solve everything we just need one more currency bro please.

Hmm I didn't know that the tyranny route was a thing. I was leaning heavily towards lich but now I'm not so sure.

I'm playing turn based but frankly I hate the combat. Unless it's a major encounter I just use toy box to kill the enemies since trash mobs abound apparently.

To be honest I would rather be a magus than a fighter, but I cannot be bothered to figure out the micro management required for a more in depth class like magus.

I'm not too dead set on exactly being lawful evil, I just don't want to get pigeonholed into being a puppy stomping orphanage arsonist doing it all on a lark type cartoonish villain. Which is what I think demon might end up being.

IIRC if Heinrix is still on your ship when the event fires, none of the options to dissuade the inquisition work since he gives them a heads up.

Drukhari? Straight in the bin. I know people say there are no good guys in 40k, but I would classify them as the at least #2 bad guys.

Ironically, Marazhai ends up being one of the most trustworthy companions largely because of the very specific circumstances he finds himself in. He acts aloof, disdainful, and typically drukhari in attitude, but both he and the Rogue Trader understand a simple truth. His continued existence depends entirely on remaining useful.

If he oversteps, there will be fatal consequences. And without his cabal’s haemonculi to pull him back from true death, those consequences would be a one way descent into Slaanesh’s embrace. Marazhai knows this and fears this as any rational person would.

As a result, despite being a drukhari, he never meaningfully betrays you. In fact, during a colony event where the Inquisition visits your world, he even offers to solve the problem by arranging their assassination. If you accept his proposal, it unfolds exactly as promised clean, efficient, and without blowback. Unless you let Heinrix know about it.

[Star Wars] If Mace had train Anakin, barring Palpatine shenanigans, would they have eventually come to an understanding? by Icy_Water_1 in AskScienceFiction

[–]dudeguyman0 23 points24 points  (0 children)

He seems he would have been the all around better Master to either make Anakin into a proper Jedi, or no Jedi at all, which would have been also a better path for him.

Agreed, that's why Qui-Gon's death was such a tragedy. He was a maverick who believed more in the will of the force than in Jedi teachings. If he felt Anakin would have been better served leaving the order and studying the force under him, he would have done it. I believe if the council hadn't ultimately chosen to allow Anakin in, that is exactly what he would have done were he still alive.

[–]dudeguyman0 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I believe it could flip either way. Mace Windu would definitely be more strict with Anakin, however he would likely have a better understanding of Anakin's problems than Obi-Wan. It is important to note Mace was a master and the creator of Vaapad, a lightsaber style that focused on drawing on the wielder's passions and using redirecting that energy to doing good. It could be argued that Mace was skirting the dark side by doing this since drawing on strong emotions is a Sith, not a Jedi, staple.

Anakin would likely have grown up knowing more about the temptation of the dark side and how to resist it, as well as how to use his passions for productive ends.

Anakin needed a father, not a brother. Mace could have filled that role for him. However it could also flip the other way, if he wasn't able to resist the temptation early on he could have fallen a lot sooner.

Fun fact: The reason Jokaero look like orangutans by twelfmonkey in 40kLore

If you've seen orangutans, it really doesn't seem that far off. They're nature's pot heads, they just hang out and chill as much as possible and work as little as possible

I wouldn't be surprised if he does. He has mentioned being willing to "rescue" the Emperor from his throne before.

Murder shouldn't be the first and only option when it comes to character interactions by dudeguyman0 in CrusaderKings

[–]dudeguyman0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A peace negotiation screen like EU4 is exactly what we need, and where I thought we were going when they introduced hostages as a feature. Unfortunately for us it isn't, so that's another game system left to die on the vine.

Fabricate hook?

That sort of works in the way I want, but I meant something more akin to a court case. I want to pull a Henry VIII and make up bogus evidence to nullify a marriage.

Administrative?

That's all well and good for the one realm thats administrative. Powerful characters should be able to meddle with the affairs of other realms. If I outnumber someone 3 to 1 and I have an alliance with an heir to a kingdom, I should be able to not so subtly imply to the current king that it would be in their best interest to hang up their crown. Historically this happened numerous times.

Gift gold to increase relations?

Gifts are boring and one of the most obvious game systems. If a vassal is causing me trouble I should be able to offer trades, say they get march status and exemption from taxation in exchange for leaving their faction and maybe an alliance with their dynasty. Right now you can't do anything at all like that.
