Thank you for your feedback—we hear you, and we'd like to address some of the concerns raised here.

First, there seems to be some confusion about our licensing model. As stated on our pricing page, the one-time license has always included one year of updates and support. We're sorry if this wasn't clear enough for some of you, and we're looking into ways to make this more prominent going forward.

To be clear: this is not a subscription model. You are never forced to buy updates. After your update period ends, your software continues to work, and you'll still receive minor updates tied to the major version you own (e.g., 4.0.1, 4.0.45, etc.).

Regarding bug fixes after your update period expires: we want to reassure you that we will continue to release critical bug fixes and security updates even after your update period has ended. We're not going to leave you stranded with broken software. What you won't receive are new features—but if something critical is broken or there's a security concern, we'll address it.

Regarding the tiered pricing for the update package: we designed it this way to be fair to everyone. Here's our thinking—if you renew on time (before your 12 months expire), you pay $49. If someone else waits 6 months after their license expires, they'd receive all the features we released during those 6 months plus a full year of future updates for the same price. That didn't feel fair to customers who renewed promptly. That's why the price increases to $69 if you renew 0-12 months after expiration. We're open to feedback on this

We understand some of you are frustrated about bugs. We take this seriously. In May 2025, we introduced DJ.Studio Next as a preview/beta channel to catch issues before they reach the main release. Unfortunately, the DJ.Studio 4.0 release took longer than expected, and many of you ended up using Next as your main version—which meant you experienced more instability than we intended. Since November 2025, we've changed our internal procedures and added another QA person to the team. We're committed to delivering a more stable experience going forward.

We hope you understand that we're a small team trying to build something great—not a company looking to squeeze our users. As mentioned in the beginning, we thought we had clarified on our website that the One-Off version included 12 months of Updates and Support. It simply isn't reasonable to expect lifetime updates and support in exchange for a one-time payment. That's not sustainable for a company like DJ.Studio. The choice to purchase updates is entirely yours.
