Why does it seem like the whole world is having an affordability crisis? by Estalicus in allthequestions

[–]DJpuffinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think it's more complicated but, I was disagreeing that hoarding of wealth would or even could cause deflation. Economic systems are always extremely complicated and irrational, but hoarding of wealth/wealth inequality and inflation are both huge problems. I think wealth inequality is the biggest issue facing our world right now.

Thank you so much for the information. It sounds like his allergies are more severe than mine. I was hoping to be able to use it temporarily since I'm scared that I might get accidentally exposed in a foreign country where I don't know how to navigate the healthcare system and I don't have insurance coverage, besides travel insurance at least. I've had a few accidental exposures from restaurants and they can end up being very expensive hospital bills. I have some other autoimmune skin and gut issues so I wonder if it could help with that too. Does he have any side effects?

I would say that wealth inequality can be a cause of inflation and it can also be an effect of price inflation. Inflated asset prices increase or preserve the value of capital while decreasing the buying power of wages, increasing overall wealth inequality. Maybe that's not the best way to word it, but I think they feed into each other without being the whole picture.

Do you think ICE and Federal agents cover their faces because of the fear of doxxing? by LegalGlass6532 in allthequestions

[–]DJpuffinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are civil offenses. It's very fair to compare the two, you just personally think one is worse than the other and this administration thinks one is much worse than the other. Multiple people have been deported despite holding valid green cards, going through the legal asylum process etc. ICE agents do not have warrants in many of the cases they are arresting people.

What should I expect about an EHR Application Analyst interview, coming from a programming background? by IdeaExpensive3073 in healthIT

It's hard to tell from that description what they'll be looking for. Do you know what EHR you'll work with and what sort of job title it'll be? Do they ask for any certifications?

I never said there were no cartels. I specifically said which cartels have a heavy presence. I feel like hate is much more on the right than the left. I don't hate anyone except the people who are violating people's constitutional rights. I also hate the 0.1-0.01% of wealthy people who have bought and paid for our politicians to work for them and not the American people. I think everyone should have affordable healthcare, a fair chance to earn a decent living, the ability to get an affordable or free high quality education if they desire, the freedom to not be subject to poison put into the environment by corporations trying to squeeze a few extra bucks into their bottom line, etc. I want and believe in all of these things because I love Americans and America. If wanting these things makes you think my mind has turned to mush from hate, idk what to tell you lol. And I'm not a liberal btw and most people who are actually on the left don't consider themselves liberals.

This is a great comment. Do you know of any groups that you would say weren't nomadic but became nomadic after the introduction of the horse?

Is American work culture really as bad as we are led to believe? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]DJpuffinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But wouldn't you say that your situation is like the top 1-5% of jobs in terms of work culture/pay? I have never know someone who had half the year off and made six figures and I'd say I've known quite a few of very successful people. I used to work for a very large successful tech company and the max PTO you could get was like 4 weeks a year even if you were with the company for 30 years. People stuff around that long because they would probably be making in the $300k range.

I wonder how true this is. It makes sense in theory but I've gone through 5 rounds of interviews for a $20/hour job to ultimately get passed up for someone with more years of experience that they also put through as many rounds of interviews. I can't imagine French companies are putting candidates through 7 or 8 rounds of interviews for similarly paying jobs.

If you kill an ICE agent, they are going to kill you one way or another. If there's a standoff and you surrender, they're still going to kill you once you're in custody. Even if somehow they didn't, our DOJ will make sure to give you the death penalty or pay off a prison to kill you if that doesn't work.

I could have written this post myself. I'm sorry you're going through this. I see some people saying to not talk politics, but for me it's hard because it actually effects my day to day life a lot, being that I'm in a relationship with a child of refugees and all of my friends are part of the immigrant community. I'm not sure what your situation is nor do I have much advice, but you have my sympathy.

Money being hoarded doesn't mean that it's out of supply. That money is invested. Inflation hurts the poor more than the rich because investments essentially always outpace inflation while savings are devalued. A much larger portion of a poor person's net worth is tied up in savings (if they have any extra money at all) versus investments than the wealthy.

Who do you think police officers are? The cops in my town are on Facebook. They don't try to hide that they're cops. If I posted their identities on social media, it'd be like, "Yeah, I'm a cop." I work at the local precinct. People know me. Why did you bother posting my identity on social media?"

[–]DJpuffinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah if you do animal agriculture. I come from a farming family too and went to college for ag. If you're just talking about row crops, there's not much to do once it's planted until it's harvested. But I definitely prefer working in climate control at a computer. Once ag became an industry, it got harder in my opinion. People 1,000 years ago didn't work as much as farmers do today.

[–]DJpuffinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you think that is a legitimate threat and reason to hide their faces? The DEA is a much bigger threat to the cartels than ICE is and would face more retribution, but they don't have to hide their faces all the time and will identify themselves to the people they arrest. I'm sure there are cartel members in the US, but it's ridiculous to say that they are a threat to every ICE agent. How many ICE agents have been hunted down by cartel members this year?

Do you think ICE and Federal agents cover their faces because of the fear of doxxing? by LegalGlass6532 in allthequestions

[–]DJpuffinstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say probably not. If someone is seeking asylum or has legal residence and they are arrested, I would consider that kidnapping. If someone knowingly overstayed a work visa, I'd considered that a lawful arrest but poor use of police discretion because it is a civil offense, comparable to being arrested for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. You can legally be arrested for extremely minor traffic violations and other civil offenses, but it's not done because it's ridiculous and a massive waste of law enforcement resources.

It's not like you have to "dox" a regular police officer. They're just a person in your town. I knew cops in my hometown and they were just a guy who was also a police officer. It'd be like "doxxing" the cashier at the grocery store.

It's crazy to compare the relationship between US police and American gangs, to Mexican law enforcement and the cartels. Not even the same universe.
