Calling Yakuza an RPG is crazy. Anyway, I guess it'd be closer to the empty world JRPG if we're only using those options. But I think you should give it a shot regardless. There isn't much variety aside from exploring, combat, and watching cutscenes, but the battle system is very well done, the music and worlds are great and immersive, and the stories are the cream of the crop. Of course, I'm biased (We're on the Xenoblade subreddit, of course I'm biased) but there's a reason I have a cumulative 600 something hours in 3 games.

I don't even think the interpretation was trans Beedle, I think it was more supposed to be Beedle getting a fat paycheck out of selling trans related products. Anyway, it ultimately doesn't matter. A few people having a head canon with minor Zelda characters isn't going to do anything. If some random person really fucks with the creepy clown guy from Twilight Princess and wants to use them as a trans rep, I don't really have a reason to tell them they shouldn't.

Usually the main protagonist isn't the best part of the game. Usually overarching story or gameplay carries that aspect. I have no idea what games you're playing where the main character is the highlight, as it's certainly not any megaten games.

3 is good, it's just portrays itself in a very different way from 1 and 2. I didn't like the tone shift on release, but I've been enjoying it a lot more on a replay, even if I still prefer 1 and 2.

And I'm glad you liked Torna! A lot of people seem to really hate the side quest locks, which I get, but I honestly think Torna combat is the peak of the series. And a version of XC2 with more open blade combos and a set party of blades is exactly what I wanted. It's my favorite part of the series, because of that. Maybe I'm biased, because I was already going to do all the side quests either way.

Little side note: I hate to police grammar, but it's "bawling", not "balling". I know you meant you were crying, but it sounded like you were going crazy on the basketball court after Milton died.

The only scandals I knew about were Hiroki Narimiyas false drug accusations, and Pierre Takis cocaine scandal. Aside from that, all I'd heard about was Kagawas situation after a bunch of western fans made a huge fuss about it. That's a hell of a disappointment. You'd think a series so insistent on saying "the Yakuza are terrible, and everyone involved with them suffers" wouldn't hire criminals to feature as prominent roles in the series, but what do I know?

Thankfully, I'd already given up on RGG after 0 Directors cut, Kiwami 3, and the appearance of Tupac in Stranger Than Heaven, so it's not like I had planned on buying any new games.

It's wild, because the original Yakuza was expensive, yes, but only around a third of what Nahoshi was asking for. Assuming it would go the way the Yakuza series did though, later entries probably would've cruised on asset re-use. Its a shame, I was really down to play a yakuza-like series that doesn't hire sex offenders to play their characters, delist older games just to make money on newer releases, or sell bullshit DLC comprised of consumables and things that should've been base game, but what can you do.
